I checked “other” only because my "favorite" workout used to be on the back of a spirited horse. We grew up with horses and my mom was a natural rider and equestrian who gave no quarter when teaching horsemanship to us boys. I learned on an English saddle, but my personal saddle was an old 1904 McClellan Army saddle. My parents then were people of means – a lot more than I am today. My wife and I used to ride in Wyoming during annual trips to a lodge with stables and I managed to teach her a lot, but trail riding one week a year is not enough and is not a real workout. Soooo, it is to the gym and pool at the YMCA, or at the gym aboard Parris Island with all the young "tattoo warrior" guys and gals, and the older retirees who still value their health. I’m 54 and in excellent condition. I have no choice. My wife is a nurse, fit, a former college life guard, and a lot of years younger than me. Add to that – we have a 13 year old son young enough to be my grandson.
I don't like wasting time or money traveling to a gym. My workouts are intense using isometrics (push-ups, pull-ups, dips, lifts, etc.) using a minimum of equipment and the Sprint 8 method to get maximum benefits from minimal time investments. Also do yoga for stretching and daily hikes for aerobic benefits.
that's impressive... i, too think that is funny to hop into a car, drive to gym and jump on the treadmill... but my gym membership is too inexpensive to discontinue... my favorites, swimming, sex, tennis, .... not sure in which order.... lol... ;]
