    Spend time with loved ones
Little early for this poll. And what a close one. Looks like people would rather spend time with loved ones then eat. I love eating especially on Thanksgiving but nothing like spending time with loved ones on the holidays. And i dont really watch football anymore on the holidays never cared much to only to spend time with a loved one and or to see a team like the Lions Or Cowboys lose. Never cooked on Thanksgiving but that might be fun. Make some Thanksgiving pie or cookies or bread or somethin.

    Watch the parade
I'm estranged from my only sibling, and all of my relatives and loved ones reside out of
the state. So it's the parades, football games, and the internet for me.

I don't really like the holidays, do it for the family that's all. I never grew up with it that much so doesn't have the same sentimentalism as for most people I think. Plus when my family got together there was pretty much usually a fight anyways.

it's really funny to try to do last minute shopping the day before, I have cashiered many of those nights and it so busy.
  • JPS 2012/11/08 04:28:37
And watch football with all members of my family who aren't cooking.

Used to have family over for big meal, enjoy a game, the parade, whatever - then things started changing. After "family" got drunk (or arrived drunk) and trashed the meal and the house once too often, I now find someone who's alone and invite THEM.
  • Sandra skyster 2012/11/08 18:52:39
that's a nice thing to do.

Wednesday I start to soak my turkey in Bourbon. I love to cook for my family while watching the Macy's Day Parade. Then eating and listening to pleasant music and enjoying conversation. Finally, settling into the best chair or a spot on the floor watching a movie with the family while eating dessert. After the movie is over and most have fallen asleep quietly slipping into the kitchen to handwash the silver, china, and crystal and then placing the rest into the dishwasher. Saturday making a homemade turkey pot pie! This is the best!

I eat my face off. I was reading a discussion just like this on a new website. It's called Habidy, and discussions like this are held on a large scale. I've been using it like crazy, so I suggest you take a look and see what it's about. It's still in its beginning stages so go to http://www.habidy.com, and you will need this code–10MEGX–to get in.

All of the above with whole cranberry sauce! I like to talk about Thanksgivings past when my Dad took us to the Army dining facilities in the 1950s and 60s when I in my preteen and teen years and would get three or four shrimp cocktails and choice of turkey or ham and the many pies and desserts. The other soldiers joined in with us in celebration. What a great time it was, before anyone heard of a place called Vietnam.

Now I enjoy Thanksgiving with my wife of forty one years, two of three daughters, two of three grandchildren and two of two Pugs who think Thanksgiving us awesome too! The other daughter is with her family that includes her new daughter of almost two months by Thanksgiving Day!

Now we have neighbors and friends who endured Hurricane Sandy who need our help. If you can spare something, support them. If you can't say a prayer that they will be blessed with good fortune to have this ordeal end very soon.
