The hospitality and friendliness. I live in a small town, and people are always going out of their way to do things like hold open a door (I once had a guy actually rush over from the other side of a coffee shop, saying that a lady should always have a door opened for her). You'll get greeted whenever you walk into a store, and many owners even remember not only your name, but also any big events in your life. It's practically a law to say please and thank you, and it's not uncommon to have a complete stranger give you a couple of coins at the register so you don't have to dig through your purse for exact change. There was even an instance where I was sitting on a curb, reading, when a stranger in a car at a red light began chatting about the book with me.
It's hard to list just one thing.. In fact it isn't even Easy to list things I don't like because there aren't a lot of things I don't about my city except perhaps the long cold winters, but even then long cold winters=snowboarding!! <3
I guess perhaps it's how friendly and laid back the people are, that our education system has literally been listed as #1 in the world, (that's something to be proud of! XD) and that Helsinki is very clean (green grass, Recycling, all that jazz).. and..and I could go on for hours. but I won't. ^_^
AND the snowboarding of course.. I loOoOoOve snowboarding. as I've said probably a million times. LOL
I live in a city but it has very nice areas that are in easy distance to countryside. I would rather live in these areas to be honest, but can't afford to. :(
The climate is wonderful. Albuquerque, New Mexico is high desert. So we have very low humidity. But we are high enough to get snow, (not a lot) but sometimes. There is a 10,000 ft. mountain right out my front door which is beautiful. We are the home of the International Balloon Fiesta every year with over 600+ Hot Air Balloons from all over the world.
River-jetties. I've surfed there a few times. Decent wave but nasty pollution after a rain. I never had any problems with locals there which is strange because its a better wave than HB pier.
