The best thing about summer: flip-flops! OK, the shoes aren't perfect -- they can be murder on your feet, and your soles are filthy when you get home -- but there's something so nice about slipping them on and heading out the door in the hot weather.

In fact, we love the ease of summer dressing in general. Especially if you're female, wearing a sundress and a pair of flip-flops is pretty much like wearing nothing at all. It's not quite as easy for guys -- especially when it comes to work clothing -- but it seems like more dudes are rocking flip-flops with pride!

Of course, for a special night out, we prefer our cutest pair of sandals to our cheap, plastic flip-flops. And sometimes, when we're going to be walking around a lot, we'll still wear our sneakers -- even if they make our feet sweaty.

To simply answer the question, my "favorite" is to just be barefoot. My wife is the same way as I in that matter too. We also believe that shildren should be able to build up their defenses naturally, and going barefoot is one way to accomplish that. Besides, my wife and I love being barefoot so much that we have have gone sans shoes and socks many places where people will typically wear shoes of some kind.

And when I have to, sneakers. I absolutely HATE flipflops! They're ugly and the sound drives me nuts. When I was a kid, only trashy people wore flipflops. I see girls wearing them today and just shake my head. They make you look nasty and not in the attractive slutty way, just outright low class. They look even worse on guys. To quote Merle Haggard "Boots are still in style for manly footwear... sandals won't be seen"

To me, flip flops and sandals are the same thing with a small distinction. I wear them all year round. I will never go barefoot. I have stepped on too many nasty, creepy things. I once stepped on a black widow spider in my kitchen and sprayed his tomato-paste looking guts across the floor. I just thank God I was wearing sandals at the time. *shudder* After I stepped on a cricket and tracked his guts down my hallway only to find his head smashed into the ball of my foot, that was the last time. The very last time. It's an awful thing to happen to a person with a phobia of insects. :(

I'm barefoot inside my home and in my yard. When I leave my home, I wear sandals, unless I'm exercising or plan on doing a lot of walking. Then, I wear tennis shoes.
