First dates can be nerve-racking. And you only make them worse by wearing the wrong outfit. A blogger for howaboutwe.com grilled her guy friends about "first date fashion no-nos," and came up with a handy list of "don'ts" for ladies looking to score a second date.

According to the site, women should NOT wear:

--Anything too revealing. As in, "Short skirts, cleavage-bearing anything."

--Too much makeup. "You might think it looks OK, but guys don’t like to see your face caked in makeup," the site says.

--Uncomfortable-looking shoes. "Do a test before your date -- if you can’t walk normally in them, leave them at home," the site advises.

--A hat. Especially a cowboy hat.

--Anything too dressy. Unless you want him to think you're ready to walk down the aisle.

--UGGs. "This came up a few times," howaboutwe says.

--A huge purse. "They make you look high-maintainence which makes guys think you’re an expensive date blahblahblah, not fair but true," the site reports. What do you think is the biggest first date fashion no-no?

It would seem to me that if you bother dating, you are looking for something long term in the end. This sends the wrong message from the start and can put off someone who might otherwise be totally into you. Just an opinion.

too much makeup is the worst........it makes it seem like the lady doesnt have confidence by covering herself up so much, but tastefully done can make the woman feel more confident.....no makeup is even a bigger plus on first dates, and can show a womans confidence in her personality and not so much on her feelings about her looks.

It's a no-no for me. It just looks so tacky and wrong. Whats wrong with just some mascara and a lip gloss? Too much makeup just grosses me out.

Dressing too provocative/trampy can be either a turn on or a turn off, but you needn't wear a church lady outfit or a burqa style dress.

...Unless that in itself is a turn on ;)

show off your hair girls. and it depends on how you usualy dress, you don't want to look like your trying to hard. don't go changing your style for a guy. too much makeup is bad but if makeup makes you feel more comfortable then maybe its acceptable if its easier to be yourself without worrying so much about how you look.

I actually like a casual guy who wears a baseball hat - I was thinking in terms of something I wouldn't wear on a first date. I never wear hats.
