I was not paid back. Now when I give money I dont expect it back, if it does come back fine. I lent a friend some money at college. I was getting broke towards the end of term and started to ask for it back. Some years later I felt that i must have caused him a lot of trouble to repay that money. So now if i dont have it i dont give it. I f i do i would rather it were without a return date. Now i tell them to do the favour to someone else later on.

Yes.. it was to a co-worker to pay for his last semester of medical school... he was working full time and attending school full time..... he paid back every penny as agreed, and he is now a doctor in a hospital in WDC. I am proud to call him my friend!

Don't loan to friends or family mostly because it's the fastest way to destroy a friendship. If I have extra money at the time I give it with no strings attached. Then I just consider it building good karma. If I don't have extra, I just straight out say "Sorry, would love to but I don't have it to give." It's the truth and people accept it then just go ask somebody else. It works for me. Most I have ever given is a few hundred dollars, when I could.

I never loan unless it is justified, and when it is, I don't push for the money. I have had many friends and family loan and give me money in a dire need, and I try my best to return the favor or pay back my dues. I just ask that those who I loan out to will follow similar ethical standards. That is how I find my true friends, family or not.

learned the lesson my parents tried to teach me, namely, you definitely stand the chance of losing both your friend and your money, so choose to keep your money. would you believe the friend was a practising attorney?

I don't loan money that I expect to get back. I give the kids at work a dollar for a soda all the time. They never pay me back, but i don't expect it either.

However, my girlfriend loaned her ex $10,000 on credit and she never paid it back. We sued her and won plus interest, and we're in the process of garnishing her wages. We're not expecting to get it all back, but we'll make her life hell for the next 10 years. paid sued won process garnishing wages expecting life 10 years

.....a promisiory note was signed, and I was paid back -- full $25,000.
Also, I have loand people small amounts of money up to $300, and was not paid back; ie., no promisory note given thus I could not collect...
Always keep it as a business deal... not a friendship loan.

yes - once she got on her feet, paid me off in about 3 months.
Have given $100 to friends and never looked to be repaid - some did some didn't. I never loan more money than I can afford to lose - same with gambling.
