Fall was the past season! Right now we are in Spring/Summer (Spring/Summer Paris Fashion Week is taking place right now)
Looking at the makeup of S/S 2013, it seems that this season is all about the eyes and natural lips. The most popular shades are pink and blue:

I don't really like this trend though.
For clothes, bermuda shorts (ew) have been popular in New York Fashion Week
London Fashion Week was crazy for sheer panel skirts
In Milan Fashion Week, there were loads of head scarves
Japanese-inspired items
And sixties fashion
For Paris Fashion Week we'll have to wait until it's over to see the trends.

According to Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors ~ designers you can usually count on ~ the following: (really? sad, but true) Sticking with the clothes I already
have!
None of these outfits look practical. I mean, these clothes are a bit much for work, the mall or grocery store. Maybe for work in the city, I don't know. Michael Kors has a good reputation.
None of them look practical because they are not meant to be worn to the mall or the groecery store. They are meant to be showed off at parties or important events. I wouldn't take a $800+ Carolina Herrera dress everywhere... Also, the runway looks very complicated because it is an exaggeration to highlight what is "in" this season. For example, in the Michael Kors runway I can guess that the colors of the season are going to be red and grey, that skirt hems are going to be knee and midi length and that shoes with straps are going to be quite popular. The point is not to look at the outfit, but every single piece and the patterns will tell you what is fashionable right now. You don't have to wear everything together (for example, the 1st picture in Michael Kors, would you wear the whole outfit or just the coat with simpler items? This is what designers want you to think). Besides, the question is not whether it is practical and wearable (fashion isn't about that either), but if it is trendy. The Ralph Lauren clothes do look pretty practical to me though. I guess if you wanted something really practical it would be useless to look at pret-a-porter and mass market/commercial brands would be better.
I usually ignore the "trends" buy myself a new coat, purse, sweater, and a nice pair of boots, part my hair the other direction, and make a new playlist on my ipod for fall. Also I change my makeup routine for a dramatic change to my appearance just like the trees leafs.
I feel like Baret's should be brought back, dresses with cute bold belts, floral skirts, also cargo pants should make a huge come-back , and tennis shoes with of coarse cute accessories
