With that said, you can get quicky single coat paint jobs from the likes of Earl Scheib $299 specials, which I wouldn't recommend to anyone, to a $30000 dollar total body paint restoration.

To do a proper full body paint takes a minimum of 24 total man hours plus materials which could easlily run over $1500. on the low side $50/hr your looking at $1200 in labor and $1500 in parts and materials an average job will be about $3000 dollars.

A good paint job on a car that is not bad off dent and rust wise costs about $6500. How do I know, Just had my car given an top notch paint job by an excellent local shop and it came in at $7700. And it looks like it just came off the truck from the factory.
