SodaHead Celebrates Green Week

Question Living

What would you have done? Would you have helped this child?

Karl May 14, 2008 20:52:02

I saw two youths on a moped attempt to knock a young boy (aged about 8-10) off his bike, then they rode off shouting abuse at him. The boy was unhurt but shaking and scared, and as I was close by he asked me if I would walk him home safely. His home was about 3/4 mile walk away. I walked him all the way home, reassured his mum that he was safe and unhurt, just frightened. Would you have done the same?
You!

Yes, good for you! Only thing different I would have done is call on my cell phone if available and notify the police (cannot stand bullies....they probably went on to torment other kids)...and then called his home to let them know what happened and that you would escort him home.
These days, with so many pervs, a Good Samaratin needs to be careful and aboveboard to not be misunderstood.

yeah something like this happened to me in philadelphia years ago.....i was going to work and on the subway.a girl got on at the temple u.stop. she had a huge armload of books and her purse was over her shoulder. she had to stand as there were no seats. iwas standing near her and saw these 2 jerks unzipping her purse ,i tapped her on the arm and told her they were trying to get in her purse. the looks i got!!!! she whirled around and grabbed her purse and thanked me. we got off at the same stop and these guys followed us with who knows what on their mind .we walked up the 1st set of steps together and fortunately on the next level it was swarming with cops for another reason. we left the station together and i advised her to keep her money in her pocket from now on.i was glad i had been able to help her though and would do it again.

    Undecided

IF he hadn't have asked.... I don't actually think i would have. Partially because of all the trouble good Samaritans get into. And because I'm not that good hearted. Goddess bless you for your kindness. I hope the kitten knew who they were and could tell the cops.

I also would have said something to those boys and asked the kid if he knew where they lived so I could inform their parents of their disgusting behavior.

I would have helped in some other way (please comment)

I would have walked him home then done a fight training montage so he can defend himself in the future.

I would have called his parents if I had my cell phone with me, which I didn't have today. I decided not to call the police myself but leave that decision up to the boy's parents, though I did leave my name & phone number with them so if they do and the police need me to give a statement about what I saw, they know who I am and how to contact me.

Excellent! Good point about letting the parents choose whether to call the police.
You sure did your good deed today : )
