I would call the police FIRST, look for the owner second, and keep an eye on the dog. If it appears to be becoming lethargic, I'd break the window.

If I called the police they might take a long time or not come at all, and I I would not try and find the owner because it might be too late for the poor dog. I would leave a note for the owner that said irresponsible people like him/her should not have a dog!

Call the police and if I thought it was suffering, I'd break a window. I get pretty ticked at people that think their dog is lonely and wants to go with them everywhere. The dog is better off at home in a cool place in the summer.

I can't stand it when people leave their animals or children locked up in a car when it's extremely hot outside. Especially when they have their windows completely up. That can kill them! What don't people understand?

Saw this on a tow show on TruTV.. they picked the locks of the car got the dog and gave it water, the bitch came back to want to claim it but animal service was there and refused to give it back and she fussed like a baby then eventually walked off, so I'd do the same for the animal and want to see her arrested too

There is no reason why someone should take their animal with them then leave them in the car to suffer. Why not leave them in a cool house instead?

I would contact the police so that the animal cam be saved. I'm not the kind of guy that would pull an animal out of a fire before a human but if I could save the animal agfter I would.

I live in a city if I call a cop it takes about an hour for them to show. I'll lay on the horn till someone shows up. While this is happening i'm on the phone to cover my ass before I accidently knock the window off it's track to open it slightly.
