Since they have already broken up, it probably won't be an issue. And in any case, it isn't as though you are stealing him from her.

But in any case, you might lose her as a friend. You have to decide for yourself if your friendship is important enough to lose her, if she gets upset; and then take it from there. I don't know how old you are. But if you are young, you are going to lose the boyfriend eventually anyway. Boyfriends come and go in the younger years.

see thats the thing im not like that he seems like a great guy but again he is my friends ex and i will never date a friends ex. i have had friends who used to date my exs and i didnt like it because then he would be around me 24/7 when i was with my friends

OTHER: Tell the friend's ex how you feel about not liking to do this behind your friends back. Tell that friend IF he approved about the situation, if he didnt then you should probably wonder why. Frankly what ever he said about how much he wants to be with you or whoever shouldnt matter because sometimes the need or desire to have someone feel that way towards you may cloud your judgment.
