I have owned a 2009 Toyota Tundra, the idea was supporting Texas jobs, but that was the worst truck I ever driven or owned. The 5.7 liter engine block is based on the Chevrolet 350 but Toyota modified it with dual overhead cams (yes I know that that means). What Toyota tells you is the Horse Power of 381bhp, but what they don't tell you is that is at 5700 rpm and drops off at 5800 rpm fast. That not even the lie, the truck red lines at 5500 rpm with a rev limiter. At 5500 rpm it produced only 300 at the flywheel. As for resale value, you would think with the Toyota name plate it would have one. Bought for $34,557 and some changes, best trade in offer was $17,200 for a 2 year old with 25,000ish miles. I traded in my 2001 Dodge Dakota 4X4 Quad Cab for the this 2009 Toyota Tundra and received $16,000ish.
Currently own a 2011 2500 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel back with a Alison 6 speed 4X4. I have hauled, gone mudding, hiking, camping and offroading and everyday driving. I have had it Murdered Out with BFG 38 x14.50 Mud Terrain and FabTech 6" RTS lift kit. Already have 50,000+ miles and have yet to have any problems.
