MandaLynne 2012/06/22 18:39:38mind+3A person with a disabled body can get along fine with a functioning mind. If your mind is gone, having a healthy body is irrelevant.

I'm working on getting in better shape, and I use to be in primo condition. I competed in roller skating and I was good. It takes serious athletic ability to do it. And you know what? I can still remember flying through the air! It's vivid in my mind all the routines. And the incredible strength and flexibility I have. I was just telling my husband the other day that in my mind I can still do it all. I will never forget that. I can close my eyes and see it. So, if I never reach that level of physical ability again, it's no big loss. Because I will never forget it. Close my eyes! And wee! I'm off! :)
For myself, it would the loss of my mind, my ability to think. My Dad had Alzheimer's Disease and it was horrible to watch him just fade away. As long as I had my mind/brain intact, I think I could deal with physical disability. I'd have to.
