I think the Duchess is having a girl from the little slip, but who knows?

It would be exciting if it was a girl because she will get the title Princess - which before she would only be "Lady", and she'd be 3rd heir to the thrown, rather than coming after any brothers she might get.

It's none of my business.. Let them have the gender they will. It was just a supposition and not a fact and none of my business

I generally don't care about the offspring of the British royal family but given that the gender of the child is provided by the male parent and in this instance the male parent is a dead ringer for his mother, I would demand genetic testing if it was a boy.

I dont understand your reasoning. If she has a boy that just means they had sex closer to the actual ovulation and the little male sperm won...

No, the gender of human offspring is determined by the male parent. When sex occurs or when impregnation occurs is utterly irrelevant. Since the gender comes from the male parent, William, if one looks at the genetics of that parent, might make some inferences. If that parent looked like neither his parent, the offspring gender would be a toss-up. The more the male parent looked like one specific parent of his, the more likely (in my opinion) the gender will fall the same way. Comparing William's appearance with both of his parents, there can be no denying that he looks exactly like his mother. So, I believe this offspring is heavily weighted toward being female.

What are you TALKING about? The gender off a baby is in no way determined by which parent the father looks like more... The gender is determined by whether the fertilizing sperm has an X or Y chromosome.

I did not say that. I said the gender of the child is determined by the male parent. It is my opinion that what that male parent looks like can play a role in making the determination of what that child will be. William is the male parent. He determines what the gender of the child will be. Based upon what William looks like, I believe he will produce only girls; because he has so much of his mother in him.

*edit* well I guess I did say that...it is supposed to be an opinion not that it is carved in stone. I just think it's interesting that since we know the male parent is responsible for the gender of his offspring, what that parent looks like based on his parents can help determine what gender offspring he will produce. My family is an interesting example. I have 3 older brothers; 2 of which have 4 kids each. The oldest looks very much like my mother and he had 4 girls while the second is a ringer for the old man and he had 4 boys. Looking further back, I find there are, of course, exceptions. My old man is apparently a ringer for his mother (whom I never met) but produced 4 boys. Curiously, I did know one of his mother's brothers and vaguely knew another brother. Each of them would be picked to be my father's father over my father's real father (whom I did know) if shown photos. Anyhow, this is just my opinion is all...to make a long story short hehe too late I know.

Your opinion is not backed by scientific fact. The gender of a baby is determined by the man because men have XY chromosomes while women are XX. Using your logic, people would never have both a boy and a girl. My husband looks exactly like his dad, yet we have a daughter. Our friend looks exactly like his dad and has two girls. Male sperm are faster than female sperm, but they don't live as long. So, the closer to ovulation a couple has sex, the better the chances are for a boy.

Okay fair enough some people might not care, but you dont have to be horrible about it. In this country we just need something nice to see happening so i guess thats why some people care. But i hope its a little girl. :)

But really who cares besides England for someone who will be pampered all of her Life.

They have enough Royals to sit in for the Queen if she ever gives it up. Charles is still waiting in the wings.

England produces far more powerful, superior leadership from their Queens than Kings. The gender now in England no longer has to be a boy to take the throne. Yes, Kate will have a girl.

I agree the U.S. does get too much of British publicity hype. I have been in England a few times, liked it very much. My former husband was born in England, his mother was British, his father American. I don't like the way media pushes everything they do onto Americans. .

It COULD BE a girl...but has anyone thought possibly she was saying for my d-og!! lol Would you give a teddy bear to your kid from a total stranger? I would have second thoughts about it. But I do hope it is a girl.. though boys are nice too... Let's just let her enjoy being pregnant....
