2239.75 miles, mapquest says that is 33. hrs but this was back in 1964 before the days of interstate highways. Non stop except for meal & bathroom stops.
3 days and a half on a car because my mother got us lost... just like she always does. thank god shw and my father could take turns or we would end up even more lost.my father managed o find the way to the city we were going for holidays. we had passed through many villages before we found our way...
My wife's cousin and I once left San Francisco and drove to the Eastern Seaboard (Atlantic City, New Jersey) on I-80/I-70 and then took I-95 south to Jacksonville, Florida; and then I-10 all the way back to Santa Monica, California; and then I-5 (I-205) to the San Francisco Bay Area to I-680/I-580; and then on into the City . . . A long Rectangle. I belong to 100-Trails (American Trails & RPI-Resort Parks International) so the cost of sleeping and great accomadations, were all so economical; plus, we had family in Philadelphia, and Houston, which worked-out just great. We were just ahead of a Tornado in Nebraska; and that was kind of exciting, but I drove very fast and we left it in our dust. As far as Speeding goes, we were stopped in Nevada, for speeding, but the policeman was actually laughing and did not give me a Citation. He said that he thought that it was humorous how I attempted to hide in convoys of trucks; as the truck drivers on the CBs referred to us as "Bear-bait" . . . My California Plates were observeed closely in Indiana, but I remained alert, to avoid any kind of police-confrontation. We made excellent time in my cousin's Jimmy GMC . . . All-in-all, we were gone one-month.
back in 1962 the whole family, Mom, Dad, Sister and me, drove the entire Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles. I think it took 5 or 6 days, because we stopped at so many attractions along the way.
I havent a driver license anymore, because authority reverse me with an other person, and now they dont give me license back. This is also because a car is too expensive for me
um if i remeber right it was 46 hours and we did stop once or twice for sleep 3 hours at a time and hey that was a long trip but i am sure i have done longer i love road trips and it is fun to see how long we go in a day you get to know songs pretty well trust me and it is funny to go with famiy cause with mine we constanily are pulling jokes on each other so it is alot of fun i hope you get the chance to take a road trip like that ine at least once:) we went from turlock all the way up through organ and back up through airzona and coming back up throught new mexico we did that in 9 days pulling a 36' trailer and a full crew cab not fun when you have a 60 puond dog in your lap but really fun
Albuquerque to Cinncinnati, then one spring break went from Las Cruces, NM down to Puerto Lobos, which is in Sonora Mexico. Wish it were safe to do that one again. :(
