Driving from SF Bay Area California to Long Island NY.
I helped my daughter take their car back to Upstate NY for when her hubby was returning from Iraq. I rented a car and toured around upstate NY down to Jersey to visit my niece and her hubby, then on to Long Island to visit with my mom and sisters.
The many 19 hour drives from South Dakota to Mississippi with my family pulled into a mini van to the point that we hate each other at the end of the trip. Only gas and bathroom stops. Note to the wise NEVER TRAVEL WITH A DOG, A 2 & 3 year old. It's just a mess waiting to happen. Plus there is always someone unbuckled the whole trip. In that case I was the person unbuckled the whole trip.
Five days from Los Angeles to New Jersey via the old rte 66 to Chicago and then country roads to New Jersey, Not a car problem all the way. Almost forgot drove across the Trans Canada Highway from L.A. to Montreal and then down to New jersey via Vermont etc.

Our family was military and my dad preferred to drive from duty station to duty station. We did several cali tours, but his home is in the Florida panhandle, so we have made that drive a lot of times.
i LOVE driving across country, love seeing the terrain changes, the growth or loss of cities, the various crops and fields and native Americans and all of that. The whole place is just endlessly fascinating.
It takes three days with FEW stops to get from LA to Pensacola. But the ex and I did the NC to WA in 3 days flat. Slept at a rest stop in kansas and another just outside of Idaho.
