I think it's all hocus pocus and I don't care for any of them. But I don't hate them either. Only a fool would believe religions cause war. Humans cause war, they'd kill each other even without religion. They just use religion as an excuse, if they didn't have that, they'd find some other excuse.

I don’t hate religion, because when used correctly, and the way it is MEANT to be used, it can be a beautiful thing!

Help those in need, treat others the way you want to be treated, respect all living things, always try to be happy, and respect the beliefs of others. These are all different things taught by different religions, and they are wonderful life lessons.

Unfortunately, over the years, people have taken these (sometimes vague) messages and turned them into something to be used against others. Religion is a tool for peace, love and kindness. But some people have broken this tool, and made it a mere shadow of what it is meant to be.

The one that is for some reason stuck in the middle ages viewpoint that there's is the one true religion and anyone that will not convert must die.

The coercion of Christians to Muslims to change their religion, and killing and torture that refused to do so, Vhoahidh of ancient history and contemporary visible, and the Inquisition, but only one example of these facts.

Unfortunately, you are talking the source of emotion and not logic and evidence

Ok, if I understood your little history lesson correctly you are saying that in the middle ages it was Islam that was tolerant ? While Christianity was running wild with the crusades and the inquisition, which I freely admit happened, you say Islam were good little girls and boys. The first part I know for a fact, the second I would need to check out. So is it your contention then that since they were tolerant back then that they don't have to be now ? That is pretty sad. If you are going to say out of the millions of Muslims that there are only a few bad ones. I might feel inclined to agree however the other several million seem to follow them like sheep. On 9/11 after the towers fell the news crews in the Middle East showed city after city, street after street and ALL of them were full of cheering crowds !!! That was the first time in my life that I hoped that we would turn ANY country, let alone a whole continent into a giant glass parking lot !!!! And please explain to me how it is that you hold females in such low esteem ? You do realise that if you kill all of them then the whole problem with your religion would be over in about 80 when there are no more of you.

I don't hate any but I do not respect those that say "their way is the only way" and all who do not agree are somehow second class citizens/doomed/etc. That's the height of ego, judgement of others and self righteousness. Who gave them that lofty position? Why they gave it to themselves, of course.

hatred is too strong of a word, however, they seem to be on an assault of religious freedom lately.

perhaps atheism isn't the best word...more like misotheism.

Religious freedom is not a positive freedom for the individual (the freedom to influence others to act based on your religious beliefs) but a negative freedom against the state (the freedom from government passing laws which prohibit your religion). Atheism does not assault religious freedom. Atheism assaults religions which either attempt to enter into the public domain and influence laws and public norms, and/or they assault religions based on their lack of credible evidence.
I know many atheists, none of whom care what you privately believe. However, if you attempt to influence public laws, atheists will oppose you, because WE have the religious freedom to not be subject to the rules of your religion.
  • Batman Jacksane 2012/04/23 17:40:06
    Batman
I think that forgets one important factor. public laws are a function of culture, and culture is a function of religion.

You live in a culture that is based on Christianity so to try and fully separate the two damages your society. which we've already seen.

I don't hate any religion. I may not care for them but that is because I don't care for what man has created which in many of them have things I personally find controlling and foolish. I believe in Jesus Christ, and God the Father but I don't believe in men who think their only brand of belief is the blessed one. None of them are.

There's no religion, it's called an relationship with God. When we are in relationship with someone we get very excited and want to talk about them, and show other people how much we love that person,we don't keep it to ourselves, that's the same thing we do with God, and Jesus. What if someone just decided to come up with a name to divide how much you love someone into groups?

All of them. They generate just another false belief that others are different or less than themselves, and this causes cultural and social frictions. There will never be world peace until either all religions accept each other's believes and tolerate them or are otherwise eliminated.

I couldn't care less. I don't mind religion, just as long no one tries to shove it down my throat forcing me to believe in what they are believing. Religious extremists are the worse, especially when they tell you to go kill yourself for nothing being religious. -_____-

ALL of them. ESPECIALLY Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Any religion that orders a person to cut off a part of their genitalia is asinine.
