He's of New Jersey decent.... See I figure if you base your view on the Bible, everyone comes from Adam and Eve. They were from the Garden Of Eden or "Garden State"..... which God trashed after the "Big Apple" incident. I assume that's why folks from NJ (Garden State) hate going to NYC (Big Apple) these days.... it has nothing to do with the tolls.

I think he was a rebel, fighting against the occupation of the Roman army, and his followers were his army A little bit like Ho Chi Minh fighting the French in Vietnam. Assuming he actually existed !!

I have heard that the physical image we use today stems from a Leonardo Da Vinci self portrait he used to depict Christ. However, I really do think he was most likely dark haired with an olive complexion and brown eyes. What a pity there are no photos of him.

Yes. It would have helped if the scripture contained instructions for building a camera, painting with perspective, getting tough stains out--you know, something the locals didn't already know.

A little irrigation technology would have obviated the need for much of the old testament slaughter.

Jesus was of the human race (there is only one race). His ethnicity was Semitic (middle eastern Jews and Arabs are the semites) and his religion was Jewish.

Some say the only true semites are Arabs and Sephardim Jews, but i think you should watch the following viedo before you decide...... I agree that this video shows, in pictures, the real caucasian semites. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZmoI...

    What a DUMB question!
He was a Jew, descended from the line of King David. The Jews/Hebrews were overwhelmingly Semites at the time, making them members of the Caucasian race.

    What a DUMB question.

And the "Causasian race" is defined as?????

Skin color is an adaptation to latitude. The black Australian aborigines are more closely related to the Irish and Chinese than to any ethic Africans. Race is a mirage.

Ya, I've heard those theories, and others. WHAT does that have to do the fact that Jesus was a Jew, akin to other Hebrews? When he's pictured as a lilly white guy (like your pic), or as a black guy, it's just plain inaccurate.

What 'race' was Jesus? Whose definition of 'race' do you want to use? How about this one.

Johann Friedrich Blumenbach divided the human species into five races in 1779, later founded on crania research (description of human skulls), and called them (1793/1795):

the Caucasian race or white race
    the Mongolian or yellow race
    the Malayan or brown race
    the Ethiopian, or black race
    the American or red race.

Jesus lived in an area that was and is called a 'land bridge'. Many different peoples traveled through and settled there. People came from all around the Mediterranean, from Africa, from Asia, Europe, etc. Many different 'races' lived there. They lived with each other, married each other, produced children, and generally mixed with each other, etc. Maybe Jesus was Phoenician?

We don't even know who his biological father was so how can we know what race he was? I would presume Jesus was a member of the human race (if you want to use race as a classification), a member of the Jewish People, a religious/practicing Jew, who spoke at least 2 of the Semitic languages.

Mary and Joseph were from Nazareth and he was born in Jerusalem. That's the Middle East. He was a fisherman and traveled alot by boat and was probably granted citizenship in alot of places. It's too bad he went to Rome. The Roman government did him in. traveled alot boat granted citizenship alot places rome roman government

He was called a fisher of men because he "gathered" followers and he spoke from a boat so everyone would be able to see him..... he was NOT a fisherman... he was a carpenter or mason (scholars are still unsure about the translation )

    thegalnextdoor
carpenters at the day may have done both, the inside and the outside of a house maybe? At first I thought you meant mason as in the masonic lodge but when I stood back I realised you meant masons who lay bricks now... there is a legend about a chair that was about to be tossed until someone noticed the name on the bottom of the chair... the workman, Jesus of Nazarth.... whatever the case, you are so right about how he gathered followers of the fishing trade to be "fishers of men" that's what we all are to be.... keep up the good work and keep trying here.

He wasn't related to Joseph, and given the propensity for slavery displayed in the bible, Mary might have been an ethiopian slave for all we know.

At any rate, he was (supposedly) born to a virgin, the product of parthenogenisis--that is, he was either Mary's clone (if he arose from a somatic cell) or a "half-clone" if he arose from an egg that underwent gene duplication to become diploid (in which case he would have been much more likely to have a genetic diseases). Either way, he had two X chromosomes and was a girl.

Of course, if you believe in magic, you can explain this and everything else in the entire universe away--in which case there is little point thinking or writing anything about anything.

I thought he was born in Bethlehem, and it was the occupying Romans that put him to death, not the people in Rome.
