What must I do to get eternal life?

You Must accept the Lord Jesus Christ. As the Bible tells us in John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world ; but that the world through him might be saved.

    Accept Christ as savior
    Bocephus
You must have the works of faith. Without faith in JESUS he wont even hear you. Good works wont get you there only the work he did.

    Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

    John 6:27-29
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

Are you asking people to work for they faith is Jesus?

I am saying faith is a work. And faith makes you righteous. It is what the Lord requires for your salvation. Just say the words and you are saved.

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9 >>

James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.

Being of the faith that God is and there is eternal life is not something that is egocentric and that anyone has to get over "oneself" about.
Of course time exists. We do not understand yet the full meaning of "time". If time doesn't exist, then Einstein's theory of relativity (which is undoing some possible tweaking right now) and bending space and time that scientists are talking about now in reference to time travel and their research is worthless, whatever their final conclusions, so there is no absolute. Without some element of what we call time, many technological advances would not have been possible. If time doesn't exist then people would not age and die.We are not holograms.

No such thing as god or "eternal" life. Get over yourself - and get used to your mortality. It's OK - that's the way it's supposed to be.

Anyway, "eternity" is an illusion. Time doesn't really exist, and there's no such thing as death.

Enjoy your life! Isn't it interesting?

This is the most sad. You need Christ with out him we are nothing and have nothing. Jesus is the friend that sticks closer than a brother. Without Christ the world would not be. He is the beginning and the end. The Alpha and Omega Revelations 1:11a KJV 1611

Not true and no he isn't.

And it's not sad - I'm extremely happy about it.

I am not nothing, and you have no right to say that to anyone. Stop it.

Her post didn't say that "you" were nothing. She said "we" are nothing. You cannot prove that there is no higher power, just like you cannot prove that there is.

I can't prove that there isn't an Easter Bunny, either, but that's NOT evidence that there is.

And her "we" includes ME, and I reject that. Again, I say she has no right to say ANYONE is "nothing" . . . except herself, of course. She would know.

That's an easy way to dismiss something that's true.

Santa? Unicorns? Allah? Shiva? What other imaginary being can I use in the analogy that it's impossible to prove that someone's imaginary friend doesn't exist?
  • Barbara Bastion 2012/01/23 21:50:20

An easy way to dismiss something that's true, your reply suggests that you believe in Santa, Unicorns, Allah, Shiva, which is not the point I think you were trying to make. So be it.
An imaginary friend has nothing to do with what we're talking about. As I stated before, you cannot prove that there is no higher power nor can you disprove it.

We need to show people their need of redemption. In order to acknowledge your need, you need to see your standing with God. Without Christ we are sinners on our way to everlasting punishment. But though Christ and his work on the cross we can have our sins forgiven and covered with his blood. So at the time of our death, God will see the blood of Christ and that our lives have been justified. (Justified means just as if we had never sinned)
  • Bastion lorrain... 2012/01/25 18:34:27

We need to show people that they don't need "redemption". In order to discover your freedom, you need to see that there is no God. We are not sinners, and punishment after death is a story. Jesus died on the cross (reportedly) because he spoke truth to power, and that's it. Making our lives "justified" is totally in our hands, and death is an illusion. Enjoy!

Nothing doesn't God of the Universe does love you. He does John 3:16 KJV 1611
But the Bible does also say
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
    Romans 3:10-13 KJV 1611
We all need Christ. Me included!!!
    Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation though faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, though the forbearance of God;
    Romans 3:25 KJV 1611

God doesn't love anyone, because he doesn't exist.
"Righteousness" is totally in our own hands.
I understand, and I know others who do, as well.

Just as God cannot be proven, He cannot be disproved. If time didn't exist, there would be no mortality or immortality.

    Unicorns cannot be "disproved" either.

Mortality exists, time does not; time is an illusion created by mortality.

    Unicorns -- a tired analogy.

Time exists. It exists whether people live on this planet or not. It is not based on human mortality.
  • Bastion Barbara 2012/01/23 20:49:38
    Bastion
    Wrong.

If time exists, we shouldn't even be here, because eternity into the past would mean we would never make it to the present.

AND, if time exists, THAT means that in the eternity stretching into the future, there's enough "time" for EVERYTHING to happen. Twice. And again. So, IF time exists, you are immortal, without any need to do anything else.

All this is silly. Time does not exist. We are mortal. No God, never was.

You're right. All this is silly. And I have to say, your statement about time is completely incorrect. I was not speaking in philosophical, existentialist terms as you are. You believe as you wish; everyone should believe as they wish. No matter how much I disagree with you, I respect your right to have your opinion. Who is correct? Only "time" will tell. Wish you well.

Read your Bible. Ask Christ to come into your heart and forgive you of your sins. Romans 3:23 KJV 1611

Some people have scales over their eyes and cannot see and their hearts have been hardened. This was prophesied and the prophesy is being fulfilled. (Those who wish to find out about these prophesies, so you can argue for or against them, must do the research yourself - it tends to make a bigger impact on our brains.)
I applaud you for your posts, but I have learned that until the veil is lifted, Christ will be simply thought of as a mythological character, even though through VMAT2, scientists have found that we are hardwired to a higher intelligence. Not all the facts have been cemented about this and no specific diety is mentioned in their research, it has not been peer-reviewed (which in many cases means nothing in the end). Hardwired to a higher intelligence, however one wants to define that intelligence, cannot be completely dismissed.

I believe with all that I am, that Christ commands us as Christians to proclaim the Gospel of the good news of salvation thru Christ's blood. That is what I am trying to do so at the Judgement seat of Christ I will not have a lot of peoples' blood on my hands. I believe the Bible is a truer than the daily newspaper. I stand for Christ in a lost world. John 3:16 KJV 1611

Salvation is a gift given freely at the cross of Calvary. Christ died that we may live eternally and is not purchased by works. Ephesians 2:8-9 for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast. KJV 1611
