What kind of answer do you give when an interviewer asks you where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I have had 8 interviews in the past 2 months and this question only came up once but I was stumped because I try to live in the moment and don't think that far ahead. I have had so many things not turn out the way i imagined I just don't really think about it anymore. I am just trying to figure out what is the best kind of answer for this question. I am not comfortable lying. So what do those on sodahead say?
You!

Just say that you're looking for a position with "upward mobility" (or "room for advancement")... if you haven't already told him/her that... that will show that you're interested in long-term employment, not just a temporary gig, and that you aren't looking to "remain stagnant" (which is also a good line...) Both show that you have some ambition, but do not indicate that you're "over ambitious"... Also the terminology shows that you have a well-rounded vocabulary... (in other words, better than saying I want a job that I'll be at for a while...)

Let's see... first of, I can't see into the future... LOL...

I was interviewed many years ago by the vice president of a small company... he asked me what my long term goals were (similar question to yours)... I looked him right in the eye and told him that I wanted his job... he hired me on the spot...

DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend using that line for everyone, or every situation... mIght not turn out so well... LOL..

Just put that you'll be interviewing people for the job you're currently applying for, as you'll have worked your way up and become a part of management by then.
