While I don't deny sexism towards men (as it does happen), there is a rampant bias in culture against women that has permeated our society for decades. Much longer than these male pressures of which you speak, such as the "unattainable" muscular physique of a film star.
I don't find circumcision to be a viable argument in comparison to birth control either. Circumcision is often done as a cultural tradition for religious purposes and that is the private business of an individual. I'm quite certain that if you took a poll asking a man if he wishes he'd not been circumcised as an infant he'd tell you that he doesn't care either way as he simply can't remember the procedure. It doesn't impede upon sexual intercourse and in some cases is medically necessary.
In my own humble opinion, the stressing of the male stereotype to not show emotion may have been better placed whilst comparing it to the age old belief that women are naturally sensitive and will bawl their eyes out at the drop of a hat.
At any rate, feminism's goal is for gender equality, not gender superiority. Anyone who would preach the contrary simply isn't very clever because that is more along the lines of a feminazi, who is just as much a sexist as the individuals and system that s/he is supposedly "fighting" against. ...

In all, I agree with what many others have said -- I don't consider myself a feminist or an anti-feminist, I consider myself a humanist and in that I believe that all men (and women) are equal and deserve to be treated as such.

so, In brief, ill explain why we think it has gone astray:
1. hatred of men
we cannot deny that men are forever demonized as being the cause of womens anguish, and yet, men are out there who will fight for women, go to war for women and expend all their energy making women happy. men have made mistakes in the past,no one can deny this, but why are the men of today punished for our ancestors mistakes or 'the transgressions of the few?' Margaret thatcher almost destroyed Britain...do we attribute that to all women? no!
2.feminism killed chivalry
oh yes, it did. chivalry was founded on the idea that women should be looked after, protected and praised for their ability to bring life to the world. this gave women empowerment BEFORE feminists rolled in. men protect what they care for, it's genetics, not oppression. who would actually look at someone wanting to care for you and say 'they are oppressing...

3. it's not equality
men have almost 1/10 of the say in what happens with their child. that is NOT equality. women are convicted of less than 5% of the domestic abuse charges that men do yet recent polls say women will slap, punch and attack their partners 28% more often than men will on average every day.that's not equality. when men are convicted of murder, sex offenses or similar against children they are sent down. women cannot be sentenced to this without sanity checks which,if passed, means they can be released in a fraction of their estimated sentence. THAT IS NOT EQUALITY. women are favoured and they still claim to be demonized.
4. women are sexualized because of the audience.
feminists will state that women in porn, lap dancing bars or even video games will be portrayed as tall, thin, well defined sex symbols rather than strong role models. OF COURSE THEY ARE, IT'S AIMED PRIMARILY AT MEN. men are very sexual creatures and will obviously respond better to sexual stimuli. would you cover up a male stripper for a hen do? have a Romatic love scene In a chick flick with a skinny, ugly guy instead of brad Pitt, johnny Depp or Orlando bloom?
5. the ogling thing
how many of you will see a woman in a low-cut top, hot pants and not much else and use all your willpower not to look away from her eyes? expect a man to look at your cleavage if it is out, we are sexual beings, it interests us. I wouldn't expect to walk round topless with my tattoos on show at a tattoo festival and expect everyone to not look. women can wear what they want but, as with men, if you wear something that shows off your arms, cleavage, tummy or tattoos, EXPECT people to look!
last point: most men WANT you to have equal rights.
very few men will claim they want women to stay at home and pop out kids till they die. men have no problem with female lawyers or doctors as a partner; it provides a more stable home. the problems we have are that we, as men, are portrayed as prison guards, womanizers and dictators to women when we have a simple problem with being told its our fault and we must pay for it when most of us have done nothing wrong. if I have this conversation with a feminists then I can expect to be told 'I hate women' and that my girlfriend is 'only agreeing with me because I oppress her' to which my girlfriend laughs at her and I decide my well thought out, non-bias argument will never make a difference as I had the misfortune of being born with a penis.
I lové equality, but this is turning stupid now. what does everyone else think?

I believe in equal treatment for all regardless of race, religion, gender, and sexuality.
I dont do labels.
But i have seen "feminism" misdirected...maybe for wrong people...it could be....
and sometimes apply:..."Gone are the days when reality fed the feminist movement"
Equal pay for less work.
I'm sure there are some people out there who are idiots and identify as feminists, but that isn't the entire group.
Also, I see that you are a 25 year old woman in Texas. So let me just say this:
You should thank a feminist the next time you go to vote, such as in November.
You should thank a feminist the next time you make a big purchase such as a house or car without a man's signature next to yours.
You should thank a feminist the next time you have personal rights to your body and privacy.
You should thank a feminist for giving you the chance to advance further than ever before in the job industry due to their destruction of the metaphorical glass ceiling.
But really, if anything at all, you should thank a feminist for trying to give you a life equal to that of your male partner's.
noun /ˈfeməˌnizəm/
1. The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men
See anything about hating men there? Didn't think so.
You, ma'am, are referring to "feminazis," not true feminists. Get the terms straight. A feminazi hates men. A true feminist simply wants to be treated fairly, and if you like the rights you have today (as Vic stated above), you too are a feminist. It's not a dirty word. Be proud of it.

That was the 'self' holding the 'self' back.
Was there a time when a woman wasn't allowed to speak?
Yes.
Back when men weren't fearing for losing their jobs to underpriveleged women--and could make enough money on one income to feed a household of 3 or more.
