I only own two types currently. I have two corn snakes and two balls pythons. They are both good types of constricting snakes to have as pets. I like venomous snakes, but I think they should be left in the wild. I like that my corn snakes eat better than my ball pythons, but I like the personality of my ball pythons better. I prefer ball pythons. Someday in the future I plan on getting a boa. I do realize that red-tail is just a in store name for the boas. They are actually just boa constrictors and there are many types.

P.S. I can see people answering this question with some perverted thoughts in mind.

They are more of a pet to me than a dog or cat. They don't shed, they are quiet, and are easier to take care of. They make good company when you are relaxing.

I'm missing the part where it makes sense to have a constricting snake as a pet.

I love my snakes and they give me just as much as any other pet. It's just a choice. :)

I find snakes really creepy but I would never hurt one. However I don't understand why people keep restricting snakes as pets when they have been known to squeeze their owners a little too tightly.

You can either keep a restricting one as a pet or a venomous one. I wouldn't keep a venomous one as a pet. Although, the smaller constrictors are harmless. My python wouldn't be able to kill me even if it wanted to. She's way too small and she isn't going to be a huge snake. It helps by having locking cages and keeping them well fed. A lot of the accidents that happen are because people starve them. Bad stuff happens, when people abuse rules with larger snakes. If you are handling a large snake you should never be alone. I'd personally keep it in a locked cage in a room with a locked door. I'm not into super huge snakes.

He is probably a hunter, a drunk and a wife beater. I have gotten to spend time with some very awesome animals ,something that people like that will NEVER get to experiance. Their loss, all they can do is kill what they don't understand.

I had an Indigo snake when I was younger. They make excellent pets as they're very docile and seem to genuinely like people.

Right. They're blue/black in color. I was trying to find a good pic and I kept seeing "rare" Indigo snake. I had mine back in the 70's and they were fairly easy to come by. I hope they haven't become endangered.

Nope. They're constrictors. And they eat rattlesnakes. They're beautiful snakes and like I said, very docile.

They remind me of what we call black snakes around where I live. They are actually black rat snakes, but they don't have shiny skin like the snake above. Still they have a slight resemblance.

I like anacondas. Although, I've read that they are very hard to take care of as pets. They are extremely messy according to the research I've done on them.
