Where I'm from, you can find a reason to make and eat apple pie, pecan pie, and sometimes sweet potato pie (rarer to do than the other two) but there are no reasons to make pumpkin pie at any time of the year except this time of year.

I do believe I would drop kick a small child in the chest for pumpkin pie. ... I'm kidding, of course. This year, however, I will abstain from this delicious treat in order to move towards my weight loss goal.

HAHA!! Absolutely not. I've been on diets...no pie is just too much for me to endure.

I recently lost 50 pounds over the last year. I did it by quitting fast food (economic necessity) and stopping the drinking of a gallon of sweet tea, which cut out a cup and a half of sugar every day. The sugar had obvious effects, but that and the monsterous amount of caffein will knock your adrenals outta whack also. I eat as many sweets as I want now; just without the tea. I didn't even have to exercise on any hard to maintain regemin. The weight came off noticeably and ;pretty soon my belt had 7 extra notches and my clothes were billowing!

I think she said she doesn't DO Thanksgiving, must be a strict something that cannot enjoy the fall harvest period of thanks for the bounty.

I was wondering if it was purely because it was an American holiday and she was from New Zealand. Obviously, it wouldn't happen (actually being at the table), but why not offer to share a custom with another?

You could be right about strict beliefs otherwise. ???
