What is the primary reason a girl cannot wear a two piece bathing suit in a swim unit in gym class in school?

is it because it is impractical when practicing swimming? Does a girls stomach distract the boys in the class or something? It is funny because boys are allowed to wear their swim trunks and nothing else

All I have to say is I was so self-conscious in swim class. There were two much older boys that were a few years behind and they really harassed the girls and the teacher did nothing about it. One of them unzipped my swimsuit. They were idiots. I would rather have had segregated classes.
