Six teeth removed in one day with absolutely nothing to numb my mouth. They were baby teeth, but they weren't loose at all. It was possitively barbaric. And, to put the cherry on top, I got my braces on a week later. God damn orthodontists...

No pain worse than tooth pain! Giving birth is easier.

Yup, and that damn tissue paper they put under your chin did nothing to keep from getting blood all over my shirt AND pants. Yeah, there was that much..

Good thing I got my braces off..

I learned from the experience. Suffering is an excellent teacher...according to the Buddha.

Christianity also seems to glorify suffering - I don't see a damn thing noble about it! If you or someone else says "Offer it up towards reparation for your sins" then what you're really saying is that Jesus' sacrifice was not enough and we have to add to it.

I don't think either Buddha or Christ was trying to glorify suffering. Buddha's life demonstrates how it is instructive. The purveyors of the religions based upon their lives gave it the spin to which you refer.

I've had several but the absolute most painful was my thoracic outlet decompression surgery. They took out my first rib, scalene muscles and a chest/shoulder muscle about 10/11 years ago. It was pretty barbaric even though it was done by a "top-notch" doctor who is supposedly the go to guy for thoracic outlet syndrome. I was suppose to go back and have the other side done. OH HELL NO....

Thank you. It was nightmarish at all levels. It was b/c of a worker's comp injury to my L ulnar nerve (nerve that's also known as your funny bone). It was a freak accident and when I wasn't getting better, the WC ins. company decided to send me to different drs to see why...the conclusion? I did NOT need the surgery...they should have just simply done a surgery to reroute the nerve at my elbow. NEVER trust a worker's comp doctor....ALWAYS get a second opinion at your own cost by an outside doctor i.e. a doctor you have never seen before and is not affiliated in any way shape or form with the insurance company. Lesson learned the hard way.
