I tried googling it and got mixed results. Could anyone explain it to me?

Razoreye001 2012/06/25 23:05:40+4it's basically it's sorta like how if you have a car it's mandatory to own car insurance only applied to people. In short everyone would have to have life insurance if you can't afford it the tax payers pay. It's not as good as what they have in Canada but it's a step in the right direction.

There are actually two messages here. The first is very interesting, but the
second is absolutely astounding -- and explains a lot.

This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration: only 8% of them have ever worked in private business!
That's right! Only eight percent---the least, by far, of the last 19 presidents! And these people are trying to tell our big corporations how to run their business?
How can the president of a major nation and society, the one with the most successful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business when he's never worked for one? Or about jobs when he has never really had one? And when it's the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest advisers? They've spent most of their time in academia, government and/or non-profit jobs or as "community organizers." They should have been in an employment line.
Pass this on because we'll NEVER see these facts in the main stream media.
Instead of waiting 'til you're 65 yrs old, the payroll taxes in ea and every paycheck funds the program originally started in the 1930's to provide a minimum stipend for people - especially as they were retiring. In 1965 under LBJ, medicare was created because the single largest cause of elder poverty is medical care. Traditionally the GOP has been against such social services and the Dems have been for it. Now both camps claim the 'high' ground on medicare because they now realize that Ryan - a social conservative has been working for years to kill it and with so many seniors moving to places like Florida, it's now a 'swing' state. They don't like his 'budget plan' that would eliminate medicare but give him and his 42 million dollars a tax break.
The rules created in '65 led to the developments of 2006 where Medicare was broken up into 4 parts. You'll hear A, B, C and D. What makes Obamacare significant is that the govt and the insurance companies reached a NEW deal on who pays for what.

Basically, the govt pays for part A. You pay for parts B, C and D, thru either outright premiums or payroll deduction from your social security after 65. Parts B, C, and D are privatized and that's where the insurance companies come in. It's pure misinformation that the president has raided Medicare of 700 billion dollars. Which is ironic because the GOP likes to maintain that the whole idea is communistic anyway that is until THEY turn 65 - then its 'don't touch my medicare'.
It does not matter the agenda - fact is, that this is all it is; a larger version of today's medicare... The healthcare industry and the insurance agencies are laughing all the way to the banlk. I work insurance and you should see the changes; they're COUNTING on your confusion - literally.

For example, a friend of mine lost his job at 58 yrs old - 2 yrs later, still unemployed he has no healthcare... but now his wife of 30+ yrs has just been diagnosed with rectal cancer. They're too old to find new jobs and too young for social security & medicare.
All they have is their house and ea other. These people were not bums... He served in the Navy just after VietNam (but he's not retired) and she's held minimum wage jobs (she still works in one). The following generation is paying healthcare forward like their kids will do for them. This is a social problem not a governing one. As long as there are good Americans like these - we need not give Ryan whose - worth 42 million dollars another tax break, which he conveniently put into to his budget proposal.
We have evolved from the days of social ignorance where we ARE our brother's keepers because that is a hallmark of our society. That quality is often imitated by never duplicated
Essentially a government take over of the entire medical and insurance industry . Where government panels decide who gets treated , by who , how much and at what price.
This is to done by controlling insurance companies, hospitals and drug companies.
Along with a Government order that everyone buy insurance of pay heavy fines with the IRS checking everyone to make sure they do .
You are free to correct anything that stated in error . Just don't go off on some tirade that nothing is true .
What do you deny ? taxes ? Outlawing Doctors building and owning hospitals ? Taxes on homes sales ? Taxes on medical device manufacturers ? pick an Item .
"now we're talking about people's lives."
Obamacare is going to terminate a lot of those lives and yield substandard care to those peoples lives .
Taxes on home sales is another outrageous falsehood. I work in the insurance business and estate planning is our bread and butter. If there's a tax on home sales because of the AFA, we'd know about it. Equally true of medical devices. There is no 'special' tax that is newly imposed. People lives are being saved, I know because I see it. My sister is also a very senior nurse in the business and she confirms it - at least from what she has seen of it. You are typical of so many that I deal with daily - 'don't give me facts; I want to believe whatever because the ignorance suits me'
Obamacare proponents hate facing up the the fact that Obamacare stole

President Obama’s $700 Billion Medicare Problem
"according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). And these cuts are of the worst kind. They are arbitrary and across the board. They reduce reimbursement rates for all who provide services to Medicare patients, regardless of how well or badly they treat their patients. Among the cuts is a $156 billion reduction in payments to Medicare Advantage plans over ten years. These cuts will force seniors to pay $3,700 more for their health care by 2017, according to a study I co-authored with Robert Book (for those who might be interested, the cuts are distributed by congressional district here). The Medicare trustees project that the cuts will drive some 4 million seniors out of Medicare Advantage plans between 2012 and 2018.

it is not a tax on home sales, it is a tax on INVESTMENT INCOME of which selling your home can be considered as Investment income .
". One of the funding mechanisms of the Act is a 3.8 percent tax on investment income for individuals with adjusted gross income above $250,000."
"The two biggies are the sale of your primary residence and the sale of a vacation home. Neither of these does the average individual think of as an investment. But, the likelihood is that they will be considered an investment and subject to the tax." http://www.forbes.com/sites/t...
NO matter how it is phrased , selling your home may trigger Obamacare tax .
"Equally true of medical devices. There is no 'special' tax that is newly imposed."
Cook county Medical believes there is.
Cook Medical Cancels Expansion Plans Due To Obamacare Tax Increases
"Bloomington-based Cook Medical had planned to open five new manufacturing plants in the Midwest, including Indiana, as part of a planned expansion, but it has shelved those plans because of a new tax that it will have to pay beginning in January under Obama's Affordable Care Act. The company says the new tax could result in the loss of 1,000 American jobs as it shifts its expansion overseas due to the unfriendly business climate Obama's administration has dealt it. "
(THANK OBAMA FOR ANOTHER 1000 JOBS SHIPPED OVERSEAS )
"The Bloomington-based medical device maker estimates it will pay between $20 million and $30 million once the tax takes effect in January, Pete Yonkman, executive vice president of strategic business units at Cook Medical, said this week.
The 2.3-percent tax on sales of all medical devices was created as part of President Obama’s 2010 health reform law to help pay for its expansion of health insurance coverage to as many as 30 million more Americans."
