We didn't have a lot of money and one of the frequent dishes was hamburger stew. Fry hamburger then put in water, potatoes and onions and let it simmer. Also sailors stew, which was my favorite. Saute floured beef cubes in oil then add a can of beer, let it simmer for an hour. Then add additional water, carrots, onions and potatoes and let it simmer for a few hours. She also made great spaghetti. I miss my mother.
Lasagna, sweet and sour meatballs, spaghetti, roast chicken or beef with all the trimmings and homemade soups. All of which I know how to cook and have the secret family recipes for.
Ocean perch, rolled in spiced flour and fryed up in a pan. Broccolie and Mashed Potatoes (made the old fashioned way) with real butter melted over it. Served with lemon slices for the fish and a tall cold glass of Milk. Not that darn 2% my husband brings home.
Mmmmm...
and I still like them!
What I can remember is - all food that she cooks is nice!!
