What does skyclad mean?

Actually it means naked under the stars, or wearing nothing but the sky. Neko is absolutely correct about the terms origins too. It is from the Wiccan/pagan religions that the ritual of dancing around a fire "skyclad" to celebrate the coming harvest, among other things originated.

While my wife and I do practice social nudism, or at home nudism frequently (OK, all the time) we use the term skyclad to describe our current state of dress, or undress, to friends and family when they call to notify us of a their intent to visit.

It just sounds better than saying; "Yeah we're runnin' round naked again." Instead, we say something like; "Oh, you're coming over? We'll make sure we're not skyclad when you get here."

It's a wiccan/pagan term. These type of rituals were meant to help the participants feel more natural and comfortable in the skins the Gods gave them. Some believe that clothing interferes with the magic you are building up. It also was to remove any trace of rank. To show that everyone was equal.
