What does "being in love" mean to you as opposed to loving someone?

I was in love once, but I have loved every woman I was ever in a relationship with. To me being in love with someone means that you pretty much love the entire essence of a person or that you are consumed with their good qualities so much that their minor flaws are not important to you.

    It means this to me:
Being in love = I love you with a passion.

Loving someone = I love (care) about you but I don't wish to bang you anymore.

That's what it means in the context you're talking about. "I love you, I'm just not IN love with you." Basically it's a break-up line. Such as "It's not you, it's me." They're both distasteful but I must admit that I've had to resort to a couple of bad one liners.

    It means this to me:
Being in love is much higher on the emotional scale than loving someone. You can still act rational when dealing with someone you love. But BEING IN LOVE is another story. You can't make rational decisions with re. to the other party. Eveything is decided by the heart . . . not the head.
