Huge difference.

Human beings are conscious of time, reality, and truth. They study the past, recognize the present, and anticipate the future. People live their entire lives aware of the constraints of time. Yet human beings also desire to transcend time: they think about living forever. Reflective people wonder whether their perception of reality matches with reality itself. Human beings uniquely pursue truth, leading to the founding and development of philosophy, science, mathematics, logic, the arts, and religious worldviews. What is real (metaphysics), what is true (epistemology), and what is rational (logic) are paramount questions, but again, only for man.

I suspect we share more similarities with our fellow mammals, than differences. I think humans are more capable of complex thought (usually), and have a keener self-awareness. I believe that, because even though animals do use tools, they seldom go beyond a certain use for them, unlike humans and our inventions. I haven't seen or read evidence that our fellow animals contemplate the meaning of existence. But hey, we're still learning about them......

Perhaps. Intellect refers to human thought processes. Intelligence, while including humans, would be used to describe an ape that uses and understands sign language. Not the monkey I have posted....he's just a rebel.

I agree with that. So, I amend my statement. Humans can label animal tool usage as a sign of intelligence. However, there is no way to subjectively asceratin if an animal is using intellectual thought processes in their tool usage.

Oh yes, definately. Humans have figured out how to do stupid things faster and die slower.

Besides the obvious (physical appearance), self-awareness and intelligence.

We're all animals, so I believe we're all essentially the same. There's no reason not to believe that. But, scientifically, only a few animals have self-awareness (knowing it's them in a mirror, basically), including most primates, elephants and a few others and only a few other animals show close to our intelligence.

Animals have their own language. Perhaps we are the ones with the language barrier? I mean, on both sides our vocal cords can't just switch. Animals have been adapting to extreme climate change since the dawn of existence (evolution). And it depends on how you define technology, because just about every species uses tools.

We are superior, indeed, in the way that we cannot be out-hunted. Just some things to think about.
