I get too little time with my children and grandchildren. While gifts are nice, to spend time with my family is much more meaningful.

My mother doesn't care about gifts or material things. She is happy being
surrounded by the love of her family.

    Where's the "OTHER" option?
A mom with young children and a hectic schedule might want little mementos that show that she's appreciated; a mom whose children have left the nest might like the idea of seeing the family together.

I spent the day around my family, cooking, cleaning, driving all over the place and listening to every ones life and death issues, you know typical devoted mother kind of stuff.
    LOL : {}

I think appreciating gifts more is far too materialistic. Gifts should be appreciated, but not more than one's own family... well, provided said family gets along well. I've seen a few broken families, and am grateful my connection with my mom is strong.

Actually I think that most women appreciate both, however Mothers never get enough of family, especially if children are in college, or grown and live away from home.

If I were a mother I would like to get away from my family for a day.
Spending a night in a nice hotel where I could eat without having to cook it first and sleep in a nice bed by myself.

I am not a Mom, nor do I have a Mom, but I would certainly guess family time would be most important!

Some Mothers and Grandmothers thrive on the demands that a family brings; the old school mothers enjoy cooking all of their homemade specialitites, My kids can't wait for holidays so that they can piig out on all of the good food. Our family has five generations, and we have one new great great-grandson running around with a little personality all of his own, which is so enjoyable. Then theirs the gifts, the kids always know just what to get, and then theirs my Mom who'll be 95 in August, just having her is a gift. So I guess it's all about family tradition.

That's good for you, but I did not request your opinion. My mother thrived on her me time when she got it, and she was not the only one mother who felt like that, and that includes the "old time mothers" that we knew. So back off, and good day.

So who are you the Robo SodaHead Cop? If you didn't like my comment, you didn't have to read it or reply to it. Respond to what appeals to you. My life is my life, and I am greatful for every moment of it. You don't tell me to back off, last time I checked I was good and grown, and you have a good day! It might also help you to have a little respect for others.

And I'd say the same apply to you, and you put your own advice to good use. You posted to me first. I did not solicit your opinion.
And I'll tell you whatever I like if you insist to harass me... Back off and enjoy your grown life with it's limitations..

    Too bad.....

    Being a MOM myself ..
    I can definitely state ..
the MOST APPRECIATED GIFT from one's loved ones ..
    is TIME (Family TIME) ..

REMEMBER your mother with fondness ..
    cherish the positive memories ..
HONOR her with your presence and good will ..
for she's given so much .. a little time is all we ask in return!

I know for my mom, it's family time, & I'd guess that most moms would feel the same. When it comes to gifts, my mom isn't too easy to shop for, because if you ask her what she wants, she always says don't spend you money & she doesn't need anything. And she means it too. I always do anyway of course, but I think that she'd value time more so. I think most would in general because you can't get back time, & all the gifts in the world mean nothing if you have no time.
