When a child is old enough to drink from a cup.....THEY SHOULD BE! Want to pump and pour in the cup...fine, but take that kid off your boob already! kids are not attachments or accessories! Will this be OK when he is in high school?? Good grief! I say newborn-1 year is a MUST. I-2 is ok...3-4 is really pushing it....and if you push it to 5 YOU need your head examined!!!

When My Mother was young,way back in the late 30's,early 40's.There was a little thing called a "DEPRESSION!" So in order to feed six children,my Grand Mother would breast feed to save her children's lives!My Mother breast fed until she was four,and was humming the "Saint Louis Blues." when she chomped down on my Grand Mother's nipple!Well my Mother picked up my Great Grand Mother's wool cap to wipe the blood away.Ruining her chances of ever breast feeding again.That's when my Great Grand Mother told my Grand Mother,"it's time to ween her!"(A story told by the offender,"my Mother!) I have five children,and adhered to my Grand Mother's,and Great Grand Mother's predictions of when it's time to ween um!LOL

4 is too old. Don't even waste my time telling me why it's okay for a kid that big to be breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is for babies, not children nearly old enough to start public schooling. This kid is old enough to use a fork and should be on solid food.

Where are the fathers in all of this? Only a spineless jellyfish of a dad lets his kids be over coddled like this.

It's perfect til the child becomes 2 years old, anything more is just simply unhealthy

When Little Aram is tall enough and coordinated enough to stand on a chair and nurse, he is too old to nurse. When Little Aram is old enough for pre-kindergarten, he is too old to nurse. When Little Aram can have play dates with children going up and down a slide, he is too old to nurse. I know too many Americans have a problem with any breast feeding at all. Folk have just gotten too removed from the natural. I know breast feeding is best for the child, I'm not sure how long it should go. My daughter was breast feed til she was 3. I did get tired of my wife doing it, but I must admit it was because I wanted her breast back for myself. Selfish #@$! that I am. ;o)

Maybe he can take his mommy to school so he can have lunch with the other kids...

By the time the kid's 4 he should be eating on his own. Besides those things are daddys playthings at that age.

That's a bit ridiculous.Have to let your child start growing up some time.When I see something like this I can't help but wonder if she is still keeping him in diapers and cleaning his butt.Breastfeeding is fine,but it should be for babies who can't feed themselves yet.

The mother must be getting some sort of gratification.

Once they're old enough to ask for it, I'd say they're old enough to eat/drink big boy/girl food/drink. When I was young, my 4 year old neighbor (I was 4 too) breast fed. I thought it was strange even back then, cuz it doesn't go over a pre-schooler's head that boobs are highly sexualized in Western culture (of course they can't think of it in quite those terms). I'm not a scientist or social scientist though.

I don't think that it's psychologically healthy for a 4 yr to still be suckling at his mother's breast. What is going on with these new age mothers? Last week it was a mother chew her kid's food and then spitting it into his mouth. Is this stuff really necessary?

'New age mothers'? That's um, misinformed at best. There is a reason children have 'milk teeth'.

I don't know much about the benefits of mom's milk only that it is healthier and helps with bonding. I'm not a mom. But I do think still breast feeding at four... that's just sick.

It can't be healthy. By that time, they should have been off breast milk for a long time. Also, if you ask me, it sounds like an unhealthy bond is forming, too.
