As a thinking, curious, intelligent human being ..
I've always had a great desire
to learn about .. have some knowledge and experience ..
OTHER cultures ..
(and know about their language/faith too)
With the Family Farm near Amish and Mennonite areas ..
I noticed that there was a center ..
established to reach out and share some of the culture, background, beliefs ..
of the Amish (and there's various orders Of Amish)
the Hutterites ..
and the Mennonite faiths ..
(Link to the center itself that I've taken the time to visit -- I've posted a poll on this some time ago)

Now also on the National Geographic Channel ..
they've been producing a series on "American Outliers" ...
With "Amish: Out of Order"
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/amish-out-of-or...
and "American Colony: Meet the Hutterites"
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/meet-the-hutter...
I've found an appreciation/respect for the everyday lives, faith, struggles
of these Individuals/Peoples ..
(we can find an appreciation .. understanding of their lives, lifestyles, faith .. we don't necessarily have
to agree with the way they live their lives (or their pre-judging as the case may be) .. but we can
definitely reach out to KNOW MORE and know WHY they've chosen as they did (for living their lives))
IF you've had the experience of going to the Menno-Hof Center ..
please feel free to talk respectfully about your visit there ..
If you've watched the series ..
what was the most intriguing insight into these lives that you found while listening?
NO Matter what ..
no matter the faith, culture, locale ..
families .. Colonies .. have STRUGGLES they face in their daily lives ..
so although one's belief might be 'different' ..
perhaps by sharing insights ..
(including our feelings/impressions in RESPECTFUL ways)
we can find a COMMON Ground as members of HUMANITY ..
and not have anyone feeling .. isolated ..
PLEASE Feel free to add your thoughts below ..

Then, they sent a group of ostensibly typical British teens to a number of Amish communities in the States. They lived and worked together, exchanged thoughts and experiences, and so forth.
They weren't done in a dramatic way, with a lot of artificial tension thrown in to 'captivate' the viewers... just a very natural observation of the surprising degree to which we are all more alike than different, regardless of extreme religious or social pressures.
Good topic, here. Should be interesting, if the trolls don't turn up. :O)
(I was glad for my experience in knowing these peoples .. as well as learning more by visiting the Menno-Hof Center too .. )
the ability to talk in a natural way .. no drama .. no artificiality ... is definitely the key ..
