I usually don't count my change (which has actually led me to being ripped off more than I would like) so I'm usually gone by the time I realize. I would give it back if it was a small, local mom and pop; but if it's Wal-Mart, who'll miss it?

Not that big of a deal. Plus unless you count it right there, do you really notice it?

I give it back, I don't need the extra money enough to have to steal it. People make mistakes, I sleep better being honest and returning it.

Try to explain to them how to count correctly so that they are not short on their draw & loose their job & become another statistic in the government watch dog list..

No way am I going to let a cashier get in trouble for something I did. That would never sit well with me at all. There's enough dishonest twits out there. Why should I be another one?

It'll probably take a few minutes for it to register in my mind after I count the change after getting out of line but then I'll give it back.

It isn't my money and more often than not if the poor cashier is short at the end of the night the money comes out of their pockets... they work too hard for me to steal from them.

No, they have to count their drawers down at the end of their shift. ( and beginning too of course) If they are short on the balance, they can get in trouble, maybe serious. I give the difference back.

I try to give it back...

In once instance, teller gave me $20 too much change.... I started to tell her there was a problem and was double counting the change, when we went off on quite a violent tangent about how she does NOT MAKE MISTAKES!!!!! .. So I politely apologized, and quietly walked away.

I would give it back. I have to work with cash and try not to give out the wrong change. But sometimes it happen. When it does I am responsiable for my bank, my drawer and my take. So if you have made a mistake it can cost you your job and it's taken out of your wages.

I ALWAYS give it back. It would be stealing to keep it. There's a good chance that the cashier would have to pay it back out of their own money. And besides, God sees everything you do.

Something like that can get an employee fired; not worth taking extra change and have someone excused of stealing.

I return it. Just last week, when I cashed hubby's paycheck, the teller ahd inadverently given me an extra hundred dollars and when I realized what happened, I ret\urned it, This very nice woman, widow and mother of 3 would have had that money come out of her owb check.

If the cashier is nice and friendly then I'll give it back without a second thought. If the cashier is rude however, I'm keeping it.
