I have memories of our forefathers fighting for this country. I think of Patrick Henry stating give me Liberty or Give me Death, and I somehow think that is where we are today. Way to many laws that have hindered liberty. We are the ones to determine our liberty not politicians.
Initially, our hard-won freedom to be an independent country. Then we remember and honor those who have sacrificed to keep us free. Last but not least, the blessings God has given to all of us in this country.
That a little over 200 years years ago, brave men wanting a better life made a declaration to King George that they didn't not want nor need him to govern their lives.
It is a time to remember that independence is the spirit and the soul of the nation. The fireworks are for as John Adams rightly affirms - a Day of Deliverance. That liberation from captivity is what we honor and so often forget.
...mostly of the incredible wisdom of our Founding Fathers, and especially of the bravery, dedication, and perseverance of Washington. Without George's presence at the time, we'd have British accents today.
God bless the USA
