"The Grandeur that Was Rome" read the title of a chapter on Rome in one of my history books and it was all that and more.
I've been to Rome twice and I love the place. Edinburgh & London are close behind. I've
been there twice as well.
Leave the hotel, walk to the corner (about half a block) look left* and there was the Colleseum a couple blocks away. On the first visit on hot day, I had 5 gellattos. We must have walked 20 miles that day.
The most impressive thing I noticed were the number of modern buildings built on ancient Roman ruins. They knew they were building forever, and they did just that.

This time and when clearing a room are about the only time I will be looking Left.
