What are your opinions on teenagers today?

I didn't want to pick either. As a teenager, I know many of my peers have not done the best for themselves. But, for teenagers like me, and those who I am friends with, they are doing pretty well. I think part of it is to do with the fact that it is a phase, but yes it is getting worse.

Every teen is different. We all like different things, we all do different things, ect. Yea, some things considered ok arent. But other than that, we teens are just being teens. Young, wild, and some what free.

but things that are NOT ok, are accepted....

I despise any kids under 25, spoiled in every thing in life and they do not work hard at anything....all they know is: YouTubing, Googling and Texting 101!! There music, fashion and how they all talk, text, spell is even worse in the 21st Century!!

Yes, every centuy, decade, and generation has its bad kids and teenagers; this generation seems to be the worst I have ever seen or heard to date and it will get worse and worse from here on out!!!

I think they ought to be locked in the basement until they turn 18....Chores, School, Church & Basement, all in that order!

I'm 15 and don't see a problem with my generation. I suppose it all depends on who brings up their children, the Internet and friends.

I Mean, Is There Anything To Say? This Whole Generation Are Pansies.

Hardly any different from back when. We're just more aware then we were back then.

I'm a teenager myself and I agree too many are doing things that are not OK in my opinion. You don't need to have sex, do drugs(including smoking), or drink but yet most do it anyway(and the guys with the saggy pants... seriously? get a belt!) I know not every teen does it but a good deal of them do.

Parents are part of the problem, sure my parents tell me to turn off the computer and go to bed at 10pm but do they enforce it? No, I can stay awake all night if I want, they won't do anything. Not a lot of parents care, really(making that statement from what I've noticed and experienced). I left the house at 7:30pm and came back home at 10pm last night, when I walked in the door know what I heard? "You missed dinner."... A few things I've noticed. One of my friend's mothers enables her to drink by giving her the bottle of alcohol, she also enables her to smoke pot by being a pot head herself. One of my other friends stayed out all night and woke up on a strange person's lawn(and stole their garden gnome)(lots of alcohol was involved).
The people I have mentioned, and myself are close to the beginning of our "teenage experience" and both of the other two have had sex, smoked pot and cigarettes, and drink frequently(I have not)

Out of control punks

I was a teenager in the '60s. Adults thought we were wild and out of control then. Nothing has changed. Adults still think teenagers are wild and out of control.

The fact that us teens are like it is cos of all these video games & movies, my generation was one of the first to have things like computers and DVD players at home with unlimited access there's a reason that we're know as the "Guinea pig generation" and kids are learning so much faster due to the Internet and so the majority of us teens think that we're more mature than we are, then kids get bad role models whom coat themselves in fake tan and other unnecessary make up wearing super skimpy clothes that leaves little to the imagination and basically telling kids NOT to focus on their education! And then to top it off all these idiots that copy the bad role models get many people that did NOTHING into deep crap, also these "role models" think it's okay to swear in movies generally made for kids eg. Transformers, iron man, avengers! It's just NOT COOL! Aaaaaaand we have idiots that would like to through their lives away for a paper role and poison! Yes they smoke cos it will make them look "Soz 'ard" when infact they are just illiterate jerks! So in all fairness like 1-2 thirds of my generation are probably gonna die before they reach 70! I know people in my year who smoke and do drugs! I'm Thirteen! It's NOT RIGHT!

I think it's unfair to put all teenagers in the same category. We're all so different and unique in our own ways. You can't put all people around the same age in the same stereotype. That's like saying all the children born in the 60's were hippies.

But that's not strictly their fault; I think Madison Avenue and other sources are being more insidious than ever in trying to lead teens astray, and because parents basically aren't allowed to parent anymore, kids are more often than not, successfully led.

As a fellow teen I believe my generation is screwed. I was always taught the classic way so, im not into thes trends but they are just plain stupid. Even in school I am considered the smartest, just because basically I read. I am just a boy with an average intellegencce. I remember, since I am in the Air Force Rotc, I was in my uniform and a kid 2 years younger then me asked if I was a terroist. You can clearly see my patches and where it says air force....

Nothing is really new, just different slang as such.

theres nothing wrong with teenagers , so whatever people make mistakes but doesnt everyone make mistakes

Teenagers are unfortunate in one way only: that at this age, they will be making choices that will largely shape their entire perspective. Just look at their parents and the parents before them, etc. it's not like children are born and become teens in a vacuum. The world we know is full of hypocritical political and social standards and has been that way for the last several hundred years at least.

I'm a 14 year old who has been described as responsible, hard-working, respectable (well not this one but no one would call me a slut or whatever) and personally bad grammer is one of my pet peeves. Not all of us are um... (I think crazy is going too far but whatever adults think we are) I think that people should lay off teens as a whole, it is most commonly the parent's fault anyway. Ok, that's my personal opinion.

Ever since they officially became an age group teenagers have been considered 'problematic' to the rest of society. However, most teens are reasonably hardworking people who deserve an opportunity to grow and develop. Don't believe the stereotypes and generalizations.





Youth violence rates:

There are alot of things that teens do now, that honestly would've gotten us slapped 10 years ago. The worst I think is the disrespect for people who deserve it though. So many teens totally disregard what their parents are trying to teach them, as if they didn't go through the same thing earllier in their lives.

However, not all of us are like that. I am a 15 year old girl. I get good grades, I do what my parents tell me to, I don't smoke, drink, do drugs and I'm still a virgin. I know how to spell and use proper grammar, punctuation and conjunctions even if I screw-up sometimes (I'm sure I did at least once in that list). I listen to my parents because they know what's going on(and I'm not going to lie, I don't always obey them, but that's on a rare occasion), I don't curse at them or any adult for that matter, and I wear my pants up where they should be.

The really lame thing is that the kids that act out, do what they have been told exactly not to do, and pull dumb stunts make the rest of us look bad. The "thugs" that wear their pants around their knees, smoke, drink, get in fights 'cause someone looked at them oddly, they put the rest of us in the same box. It's just rediculous(told you I made mistakes) that people can act that stupid and think it's cool.

Finally, I apologize for what our generation has done to music. I would honestly personally kill Justin Bieber if we would get a REAL musician back in exchange.

Oh, and for those of you who are my friend on here, or have seen one of my opinions, I do choose to type and spell: like this cuz it takes alot less time than spelling everything out and using good grammar cuz i will be a lazy teen once in a while.

But I can spell and such, English is my highest subject, I am not stupid.

I think they don't know how to do much outside of computers, I think they're wet behind the ears and I think they lack respect for adults more so than they did in my day. Im not saying we were perfect little angels but alot of teenagers of today leave me speechless how much they talk and how little they care. There are also alot of posers.

Im not saying they all fit into this but when I run into one in person who doesn't I hate to say Im a little surprised.
I get a kick out of the melodramatic ones. These kids are so hung up on material possessions it astounds me. "if I don't get this ill die". lol the only thing they'd die if they don't get is a blood transfusion, food, water or an organ. I look at them and shake my head going "you won't die, you'll go home and throw a fit but you won't die"

They are smarter then the average bear, just hope the bear does not eat them.

Where do I start. It's the whole child/adult argument. After 13 they are really adults and in certain scenarios should stop playing the victim or drama queen, and look up the definition of the word sensible. I think the main difference is they are far more disrespectful nowadays. I also disagree with certain things that are seen as normal when the legal system contradicts it (teenage girls wearing next to nothing gyrating to club anthems with sexual lyrics)

all they talk F word, loud talking , no respect to others, music is loud, no MORALS...
