What are some good things to eat when you have a lot of teeth pulled at one time? I am trying to make a list of soft things I will be able to eat.. So anyone who can, please help me out some..

~♥Ashley♥I~love~my~son♥~ 2010/08/12 21:30:41
A lot of you know that I have been having a lot of problems with my teeth. Well I finally got to see the Oral Surgeon and he told me that I have a disorder in my mouth which causes my teeth to basically rot from the inside out, and there is nothing they can do. It does not matter how well I take care of my teeth, they cant do anything for them. So They have set me up an appointment where they are going to pull all of my teeth in one day.. :( (yes I dread it majorly and really don't want it done) So I am trying to get things in order for it. So I am making a list of the things that I will be able to eat after the surgery.. So I need some things that I will be able to eat that will not hurt me to bad.. So I am asking everyone to kinda help me out and give me some ideas.. Your ideas will be very highly appreciated..

Thanks
Ashley
You!

Milkshake with a spoon, sucking it through the straw will hurt and the dentist will get mad at you.

I lived on pudding cups, lukewarm mashed potatoes (with gravy!), Campbell's original chicken noodle soup (because the chicken pieces were tiny, as were the noodles, and there's nothing to really *chew*) along with tomato (and cream of tomato) soup, french onion soup (again, the onions are very soft - little to no chewing necessary).

Keep in mind, I only had four teeth removed, but yeah. ^_^ I loved mashed taters. Um... any creamy foods - just make sure they're lukewarm or near room temp. Too hot or too cold can really hurt the swollen gums (remember - the nerves are EXPOSED until the wounds heal). Beware the ice cream for the first few days. It's not as good an idea as it seems for the first couple of days.

soup, jello, pudding, ice cream, bread, grilled cheese if its soft after a few days of having them pulled. it all really depends on how much pain you are in. maybe some like pies or something that are soft, or soft fruit like bananas and stuff. good luck with your surgery. i had my wisdom teeth cut out not long ago. i feel for you especially since you are having them all cut out.

You can puree just about anything you want and if you have a juicer there are all sorts of recipes that are delicious and nutritious. As far as soft foods the following are good:

    while your gums are healing:

    Mashed or boiled potatoes
    Sweet potatoes
    Peaches are excellent pureed
    Pudding
Deviled ham, if you like it
    Chicken or beef boullion
    Yogurt
    Ice cream
    Cream cheese sandwiches
    Macaroni & cheese
    Fettichini alfredo
    Buttered noodles
    Butter beans
    Refried beans
Most any bean I can think of as long as it is cooked
    Cooked carrots
    Tuna salad
Broiled fish is usually easy to eat and can be mashed with your tongue on the roof of your mouth.
Mashed or pureed bananas are actually very good and can be pureed with peaches or oranges
    Pimento cheese spread sandwiches
    Eggs
Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches (if you aren't allergic)
Bakery donuts without nuts (Krispy Kreme) Chocolate glazed and warmed. Yummm!
Warm biscuits with butter and honey (that's what I'd pick. lol)
    Soups & stews
    Spaghetti O's
Chicken and dumplings if you just chop up the chicken really good and mix it with the dumplings.
Chicken salad - just skip the pecans if your recipe calls for it
    Grilled cheese sandwiches
    Most melons
    Chili
    Salmon croquets
    Fish
Spaghetti with meat sauce (no meatballs for a while)
    Hamburger or tun...

I've known people with no teeth who eat everything they want, even corn on the cob. Of course, they had been without teeth for a long time so they must have had calluses on their gums. lol

Soft watermelon pieces should be manageable within a day or so. Maybe lightly salt them the night before and refrigerate so they get extra juicy. The cold will feel good, too.

Mashed potatoes... mmmmm. Mac N Cheese is a good one too, and pudding.

If you want more I'll ask my sister what she ate when she had her jaw broken she'll probably have some good ideas, but I know what I listed is what she mostly ate.
