When I was three, I fell into a pool and sunk down into the bottom. I couldn't swim. I almost drowned, but someone jumped in and saved my life. Have you almost died?

Died on an operating room table. Was pronounced dead for 5 and 1/2 minutes. CPR, and one diligent OR assisting saved my life....attending was willing to let me go after 3 minutes. I was 20....

When I had my Jaw Surgery back in 1996, while in intensive care at the hospital, the power went out twice and I couldn't breath since I had a tube down to my lungs :-\

I had something like that happen. The power did not go out, but I began to be able to breath on my own and once you do not NEED the tube anymore, it is just a hinderence of course, but I could not get anyone to help me, including the nurse, so I just stayed awake all night, carefully, breathing, until a doctor came, the next morning.

What did you do, I mean were you attended to quickly?

I was awake. Actually, when the power went out, I was half asleep because I had just came out of surgery earlier that day and I was still woozy

Yes, and CONTRARY to everything I learned about how a dying peron's brain functions operate, and how sensory data is processed in an oxygen deprived brain, and blah, blah, blah science babble (because they really DON'T know either!) that there IS an afterlife. I did NOT cross into that place, and I did NOT want to come back to this plane of existence. But it was not my time.

Actually science can't process when death actually takes place. Thank you for this answer. I believe in life after death as well as angels.

That is so cool. Did you have a Near-Death Experience? You know, where you go to heaven and want to stay but you are told you have to come back because there is more you have to do?

No, I did not have a near death experience! I had a death experience. I saw things in the OR that I could NOT have seen if I was not watching. I saw a cardiologist rush in after scrubbing into the OR, and I was able to describe her scrubs (they were yellow with dogs on them) and her hair and stuff. I was able to repeat what she had said, and done. She was not in the room for the surgery, and I was still under anesthesia when I came back to life, and she left. I had no way of seeing her...it even changed the way the surgeon and three of his nurses look at life and death! (maybe THAT was the reason!) I was not floating, but like standing in the room, looking at myself, and realizing I am either dead, or out of my body. I saw the flatline on the monitor, and the panic in the room, and realized I was dead. All I could think of was how hard it was going to be on my mother. The "person" that came for me was not anyone I have ever known, and she said nothing to me for what seemed an eternity. I looked at myself again, and told her, "this will break my mother's heart, and her faith, but I'm ready." I was like walking away from myself, and she was ahead of me, and she stopped, but didn't turn around for what seemed like forever, but when she did, she told me ,"No. You can not come her...

You are not ready. Your purpose has not been realized." With that, she hit me dead in the chest with just one palm, so effortlessly, but that blow threw me back and I kinda fell back into my body, and it hurt. It was like being thrown into a pool filled with needles, broken glass, and ice slush water.

I make every day meaningful. I remember to treat each person as though it may be the last time I ever see them. I tell those that I care about that I love them often; i want kind and loving words to be the last words they hear from me, should the lady ever come back for me!

Yeah twice, 2 years ago during the summer my friend and I decided to go swimming we were visiting her family in Block Island and the area where we stayed was covered in rocks. I went out first and a wave hit me, she didn't know how big it was but it was at least twice my height. Well I hit my head on some rocks, completely knocked myself out and the under toe took me out. I woke up a few hours later on the shore with the life guard. The second time was this year, my friend Eliot and I got into a car accident. I lost a lot of blood which is bad because I have anemia (I had to get a blood transfusion), I had amnesia for 4 and a half weeks, IV feedings, all that jazz.

When I was 6 I was trapped in a burning house. All I remember is not bein able to see anything except the flickering of the flames through the smoke and coughing constantly. I passed out from lack of oxygen and woke up in ICU.

When I was 9 I was riding my friends dirt bike when i crashed into a stone wall. Spent twoo weeks in the hospital.

When I was 10 I was hit by a drunk driver while riding my bike. Spent threedays in the hospital.

When I was 12 I almost drowned at a beach.

When I was 15 I cracked my skull open while skiing. Spent 6 days in the hospital.

Quick question: Does this make me the luckiest person in the world or the most accident prone?

I nearly drowned when I was 18. They say your life passes before you. It didn't, but the first 10 years of my life did. It was strange. Then 10 years ago I had a surgical procedure that "went bad" for lack of a better term. I was intensely bleeding internally. You know you're in trouble when the ambulance shows up and they refuse to transport you. That scared me even more. They were a town EMT service who, after speaking to the surgical department at my hospital and knowing what was wrong, called a very well-trained EMT company here in Massachusetts. They stayed with me until the pros showed up. Longest ambulance ride!! When I finally made it to the OR, I put my arm out for the anesthesia, I was totally at peace thinking I wasn't going to wake up. I did in Intensive Care.
So, yeah, twice. I hope I'm at that peaceful place when it does come.
