Wells Fargo Threatens Dying Cancer Patient With Foreclosure: Do You Agree With the Bank's Actions?

North Carolina resident Cindi Davis had a mortgage of $873 per month. She also has monthly medical bills of more than $1,000. She is in jeopardy of losing her home, because she cannot afford both. According to HuffingtonPost.com, "Despite requests for reprieve from her doctors, who have told Wells Fargo that losing her home would be detrimental to her health, the bank has been unmoved. In a letter to WCNC, Wells Fargo stated." What do you think? Should Wells Fargo ease off or are they in the right?

Surely they could allow the poor lady to live in peace for the little time she has left. It would hurt nobody for the bank to claim money owed from the sale of the property after she dies.

I will never be on the side of a bank that is refusing to assist a dying woman. They have tons of cash, they can make a deal to help her out. They are just being asshats, and I hope they enjoy roasting in hell.

If she dies, life insurance (if she has it) would pay off her mortgage. Wells Fargo wouldn't like that. If Wells Fargo forecloses instead, they'll make more money off the house. Greedy basturds. Maybe she should declare bankruptcy or get a reverse mortgage. I really don't know what advice to offer. I've never done business with WF and I sure as hell won't ever now!

When you sign a contract you have to abide by the terms. If you make an exception for one person you will have to do it for every one. They offer insurance which will pay your note in cases such ss this for this very reason. That is how she could have protected herself from foreclosure.

Thats just messed up!! But Wells Fargo is good as screwing people over. I have heard of people losing cause and cash out of their checking and saving accounts because they screw up so bad. And when the back was confronted about it they said not their problem. My prayers are with this poor woman. And hope that Wells Fargo finds a heart somewhere.

Wells Fargo is turning into a nasty place to bank these days. I have had to close my account with them due to stupid fees that they are starting in September. They don't care about there customers anymore all they care about is the bottom line.

I agree that the bank has the right......but i disagree morally.The banks should be doing everything they can right now to restructure loans to allow struggling families to stay in tbeir homes :rather than snatching everything up in forclosure.....that should have been a condition of the bailout..I dont think anybody should get something for nothing.....especially the banks.

I'm just thankful that we have free health care over here.

I lost my first wife to cancer and I am a cancer survivor... I don't know what I would have done if my home had been at risk as well.

Banks have NO heart. It’s all about MONEY. I stopped using my B of A card because regardless of how you paid off the charge, (one payment or over time), with a zero balance there was always a $1.50 service charge

They could hold off for a little bit, she won't be around that long and the banks have no problem letting property sit vacant while they try to sell it. This is one of the banks we bailed out.

So tell me in your area when were banks ever known as a compassionate caring bunch to start with? I would imagine there are tales like this that happen daily in this country anymore that don't catch the eye of Hufpo. But hasn't Well Fargo themselves been in some money scrapes in the last few years along with some of the other biggies?

No I do not agree with this at all. She is dying from cancer for gosh sake give her a break and ease off Well Fargo damn. She needs to pay for medicine for her health to live. When you threaten to take her home away from her. Where is she gonna live a old lady that soon gonna die.

Wells Fargo doesn't HAVE to foreclose, Wells Fargo is CHOOSING to foreclose. It could do lots of other things.

They have the right. It may not be a great situation, but banks mortgage houses for many cancer patients and people facing death every year. They couldn't afford to let them all slide for the time it takes for them to get treatment. That's a sad situation, but on the bright side it'll take a very long time for them to foreclose. An acquaintance of mine has been living in a foreclosed house for a little over 10 years.
