Welfare Money Being Used to Post Bail?

~ The Rebel ~ 2012/04/15 14:49:13

The Boston Herald reports:

Kimball Clark, 45, was locked up Friday on drug-dealing charges—again—when he was overheard using his one phone call to ask the person on the other end of the line to “get my EBT [Electronic Benefit Transfer] card and go to the ATM and get the money to bail me out, get me outa here tonight,”’ according to a Boston police report.

The EBT system provides benefits—including food stamps and cash assistance—through a plastic debit card.

    They SHOULD be able to control the use... that's abuse of the benefits... this is why I'm so hard-nosed against the welfare and other assistance programs... I know SOME PEOPLE need the help... but there's far too many who don't, who abuse it, etc..

    Incredibly enough this is not unusual. I saw a defendant in a DUI case drop his access card on the desk to pay for the mandatory program. I guess he thought it was a Mastercard. Don't leave home without it!

    This is another reason to end the welfare system we have now. I believe that a good one to go to is as follows;
    1. If you apply for ANY kind of welfare you WILL be taking random drug test you fail, you loose and can not apply for 5 years.
    2. If you are on welfare and do not have a high school diploma you will get one or loose your benefits.
    3. if you are on the system and do not have any skills you will learn on then get a job..
    some common sense rules will go a long way to ending the abuse of the system.

    I'm tired of scams by these criminals. I was a street hustler and criminal. I never got welfare though. I took my skills and got a job. Cripples can answer phones and drug dealers can sell cars. We need to shut down welfare.

    Saw this on the news - and no way to stop it - the 'cash assistance' part does not distinguish usage.

    He's healthy enough to run around selling drugs, he's healthy enough to sell cars, insurance etc. There's really no excuse for all these people to be on welfare.

    Agreed.... we're on 3 generations of Welfare rats... (excluding those that legitimately need it)...

    But, what I want to know is this: What happened to the days when family took care of family.... family took care of family that were unable to take care of themselves... How did it become my (and other hard-working taxpayers) responsibility to pay for everyone else?

    There's a few of us left with pride and respect for family. I pay my granddaughter's daycare so that her and her mother can hold their heads high.
