Ridiculous. Parents - if you love your child and he/she/it is approaching a health problem by playing with drugs, you try to stop them, right? So if your kid looks like a friggin Weeble-Wobble, throw away the PSOne, 2, and 3 and all of their shiny digital cousins. Stop driving them 4 blocks to school, and get them (make them) try a sport or martial art or something. they may suck at it, and they may whine and squeal horribly, but the trade-off is knowing that your kid might just like it. They grow up to healthy, strong and (gasp!) physically attractive adults.

Weight Loss Surgery The Answer To Teen Obesity?

The FDA is considering allowing teenagers aged 14 to 17 to have gastric banding surgery. The surgery involves tying an elastic band around the stomach to decrease appetite. Currently, the procedure is only approved for adults, but doctors are considering making a change in order to help younger people struggling with obesity.
In a study of fifty obese teens, half were given the gastric banding surgery while the other half were put on a program of dieting and exercise. Over two years, those who had the surgery lost an average of 76 pounds, while the others only lost an average of 6.6 pounds -- some of these teens even gained weight during the study. Though the surgery appeared to be successful, one in three teens needed a follow-up surgery. Also, the long term effects of the gastric band are unknown.
Although currently the FDA is only considering gastric banding, a procedure that can be reversed, two other forms of surgery could be allowed in the future. These irreversible surgeries include cutting the stomach and stapling it shut or gastric bypass which re-routes the small intestines to a small stomach pouch.
Is this the solution Michelle Obama was looking for to solve childhood obesity?

learn how to eat a salad instead of a cheeseburger
I used to go at it alone with weight loss and then when I signed up for the gym the Professional trainers told me things I never even knew, it them became clear why I was not successful.
7 weeks later 10 kilos are gone and I go every second day to the gym so it can work if you know the right information, get the correct advice and follow it through for life.
I saw a video on a girl who chose band surgery to help her lose weight and what stunned me was that she said freely and admittedly that she "basically ate tons of junk and big meals". She should of had psychological help before the surgery was even suggested to her but she spent 15 grand and went through with it so chances are her mental issue was not even noticed.

From personal experience most of the time teens are eating for boredom not necessarily because they are hungry.
