Definitely not the dogs fault. The man needs a rabies shot and then put down.

I would have killed him on the spot. Jail isn't the right punishment unless you could guarantee he would be put with the general population (and they knew what he did).

As for the dog... I have to withhold judgement. The dog may have been trained that way but it might stay that way. As sad as it is, the dog might have to go and depending on the law in CO, there isn't a choice. I have known good pitbulls (when bored would eat an entire couch, except the springs) and bad pitbulls (owners had no control over the animal; attacked my dog unprovoked, just a vile animal; broken hand; big mess). So it depends on the animal.

he's given the dog a probable death sentence...SO DON'T WASTE OUR MONEY...
    Give him his wish...

I don't want to get too worked up on this as I am not a dog friendly person, I belong to groups trying to strengthen dog laws from dog barking noise, to criminal penalty increase to the owner for loose vicious dogs, and dogs that cause injury death by attack.
There are way too many people dying from Pitbull attacks and I find that breed disgusting.
I hope they dog is euthanized and the guy gets a twenty year term.
The combination of pit bulls, rottweilers, their close mixes and wolf hybrids:
77% of attacks that induce bodily harm
    73% of attacks to children
    81% of attack to adults
68% of attacks that result in fatalities
    76% that result in maiming

All dogs need to be trained - trained and trained ... I've owned two German Shepherd Dogs, a Rottweiler and currently have a "Heinz-57" (Chow/Retriever/who knows) ... NONE has bitten anyone ... one of the Shepherds 'snapped' at one of my wife's long-time friends but that was because she kept insisting, repeatedly, on getting the dog to "smell my hand" to become her 'friend' -- no skin was broken but she finally 'got the idea' to leave the dog alone ... I'm quite certain that most of the incidents you recite were due to poorly trained, untrained or mistrained dogs ... many owners believe their dogs need to be 'mean'.

    Dog Waste Threatens Public Health

“Dog waste is an environmental pollutant. In 1991, it was placed in the same health category as oil and toxic chemicals by the Environmental Protection Agency,” explains Virginia-based pet waste removal company Doody Calls in a press release. “The longer dog waste stays on the ground, the greater a contamination becomes. Bacteria, worms and other parasites thrive in waste until it’s washed away into the water supply.”

USAToday reports that 40% of dog owners do not pick up their dog’s waste at all and all that waste pollutes waterways. Because scientists are able to track the origin of the fecal bacteria to the species that excreted it, we even know how much. One study showed as much as 90% of the fecal coliform in urban stormwater was of non-human origin, mostly dog.

Your choice ... but read again your comments ... don't they reflect on the owners' 'deficiencies' ... as I've mentioned here and previously --- blame the owners of the dogs - of all pets, actually, for the pets' misdeeds ... and let the 'punishment fit the crime' .. for instance -- 'you' don't clean up after your pet ... a month of cleaning up after other thoughtless owners, for starters.

Sorry but I don't like dogs, and think very poorly about most of the owners as well, so my opinion is very biased. I am surrounded in my neighborhood by approximately 11 dogs that bark on and off all day long. I won't go into the legalities because the city laws are useless and dog friendly suffice to say the latest popularity of dogs with idiot owners leaves us with noise all the time. This is one of the few countries that seems to worship them like the folks in India worship cows. So any defense you give is falling on deaf ears. I have one quiet cat that requires very little attention and does not attack or kill anyone, takes up little space. does not eat feces, he buries his, and does not need to be walked.

Hmmm ... how ironic, actually ... I d-e-s-p-i-s-e cats ... they stink and their feces stinks ... I have to 'unbury' their 'presents' every other day -- for some reason, these foul critters have taken a liking to crapping in my flower bed and, short of ending their lives prematurely, I can't seem to discourage their visits ... again -- owners, owners and owners ... as far as the barking goes, I truly do sympathize as well as empathize with you ... I wound up taking my immediate neighbor to court -- her dogs barked absolutely consistently from 7:15AM when she departed for work until anywhere from 3:30/5:30PM when she returned ... she was warned to correct the matter or have her dogs taken from her ... problem has been solved.

Amen you live in a good area where the laws are enforced. I understand about the cat thing as well, The one I have is a stray felt bad it was starving so fed it and that was it, it now has a home, but it does use a cat box so no messed up yard.
There are so many going off from sunrise to sunset, it seems overwhelming. A/C said they would send a letter they would not even come out. Well good luck to you and glad your getting a little peace and quiet.

Why was he allowed to bring a dangerous dog in? And the dog should be put down, he should be banned from owning dogs and he should have to pay compensation to whoever got hurt or had property damaged. Jail won't do anything, it just costs money. How about give him 30 lashes and sit him in the stocks for 5 hours?

It's wrong to wipe out humans, but it's ok to do to animals who have a bad reputation. Dachshunds are known to be one of the most likely dogs to attack, even more so then those mix wolf hybrids. And they have one of the strongest sets of jaws. So lets kill them too.

It was trained to attack, told by a mentally ill man who trained it to do so. My godparents dog was very protective but never hurt anyone. But I know a great dane that snapped over nothing and left his owners mother in the hospital. It's simply because of the breed that people all of a sudden get all paniced and fear full. It isn't the dog, it's the owner.
