I understand why. The bill had so much pork in it that is was not about helping Sandy victims. It was just another crazy spending Bill that needed to be stopped.

This is an example of someone abusing the Second Amendment. Since this is a routine occurrence now, it's proves that people REFUSE to be responsible and thus their privileges (to leave guns & ammo lying about rather than securely stored) should be curtailed. We did that here a quarter century ago and nothing like it has happened since, same thing in the UK & Australia.

Other than basic grief/loss counseling, offering a largess may prompt some (unscrupulous) civic official to give the local 'bad seed' some drugs, booze & armaments and induce him (almost always guys) to go on a rampage so they can get compensation funds to build a new town hall.

I find it repulsive that they cannot help their own tax payers who pay their salaries. How contemptible is that? They should all be canned and sent home with no retirement.

I don't think it's just the Sandy thing, I think it's the timing it happened, and that time is we the people are broke, there isn't any money to pour out of the taxpayers coffer right now.
Besides our political leaders got more pressing things on their minds like licking their pride after that fiscal crap they created for themselves.
Yupp, when things are good the money flows to the dumbest of projects, then when the money is tight even the well deserved get screwed. That's the political arena.
