Vice President Joe Biden tried to defend his unpopular position on same sex marriage by saying, “Look, I just think that the good news is that as more and more Americans come to understand what this is all about is a simple proposition. Who do you love?"
Simple? I don' t think so. Nearly 41% of first marriages in America end in divorce. Theses divorces likely began with a loving relationship. They all learned that it takes more than love to make a marriage (or any relationship) work.

It's possible to love someone and not like them very much. In marriage you have to do both. And that's hard sometimes. The partners have to give one another space when they need it without feeling distanced or alienated from each other. Marriage is work but when it works right it's worth it.
Our new president, François Hollande, did not marry Ségolène Royal (they have four kids), and he has not married our new First Lady.
