Unannounced Visitors

I grew up in a home with a open door policy.
As an adult, this is not the way I choose to live. Many of my family resent the fact that I am not running a 24 hour bed, breakfast and gathering place. I cringe at the thought of my neighbors just seeing my car and invite themselves over to "sit a spell." Is it wrong to expect someone to call if they'd like to visit?

but we don't have much visitors ...most of the times
i can imagine your situation..." you always beside the door goodby others"
In any event, I thank you for your comment.
I don't like the sound of "I am private person," but I am. I'm glad to see that I am not the only one out there :-)
Thanks for your comment.
where i use to live i had people banging on my door at all hours of the night and coming over trying to start drama and being that i lived there i couldn't get out of it. bad spot to be in.
I've had ppl. coming for a visit, and then not leaving for days... It often turned into something ugly when I needed to tell them they can't stay on. I am a single, professional young woman... And I need to hide the fact that I have a "guest" room from ppl. I don't know. To many a guest room and no children translates into "a place to stay."
I had one of my uncles come over when I was younger, uninvited, blow up our oven and sue my parents. It all depends on the type of ppl. you know, and the type of people I know, I think it's safer for me to have a "call before you come policy."
