CNSNews.com reports that "A report issued by the United Nations-backed Global Commission on HIV and the Law recommends that nations around the world get rid of 'punitive' laws against prostitution -- or what it calls “consensual sex work” -- and decriminalize the voluntary use of illegal injection drugs in order to combat the HIV epidemic." Do you think prostitution should be legalized worldwide?

I have never and will never pay for a prostitute.

    I don't even like strippers.

That being said, I want to decrease the size and scope of government even for a disgusting industry that is harmful to all involved.

    prostitution

    adultery
    noun
voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse

    prostitution is not adultery.
if anyone is committing adultery while seeing a prostitute that is not the prostitutes fault.

Hasn't it become ridiculous how far people will go to make excuses for and even protect the destruction of the moral compass? Excuse making, spineless nonsense. Too bad we can't bottle conviction and hand it out.

*BTW: I Love the Borderlands image.

You believe it is a sin, there are many who don't.

You dont have to sell your body for sex, but dont force your opinion or beliefs on others.

Even if you do not believe in God and Sin, NATURE (science) itself dictates that there IS indeed something WRONG with this kind of behavior. If there was nothing wrong with it then there would be no health risks. Point blank: Promiscuous sex is a LIFE RISK. Nature's/God's way of trying to be OBVIOUS with us about what we SHOULD be careful of. But I guess perhaps obvious just isn't enough for many people.

Have you thought about accepting Muhammad in to your life. Islam is the only true word of god. I think if you accept his wisdom in to your life you will have a new enlightened view of the world.

You know what you tell a woman with two black eyes?

Nothing she's already been told Twice. A joke to break the ice.

If she starts bitching I will fire her ass I have seven back ups. Hm-mm I don't think I am going to stop drinking or eating pork either. In retrospect ill just take all the things I like from Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and become Bahai, But I'll go to valhalla and smoke weed to worship mother earth. I will also go to strip clubs to give offerings of money to express my gratitude for women. I call my religion mindscienceism. I almost forgot you don't need a gun, but it is suggested. All are welcome even atheists satanists or pagans as long as you respect everyones choices.

I'm not trying to insult anyone's religion. I'm trying to see if there's an actual true religion myself. I believe there's a God but from what I've seen in the bible he's not Christian.

it only matters since you start obeying the rules of this religion. Most of the atheists criticise christianity while not doing what Christ command them to do - and it's rediculous

Christianity was created after Christ died so I believe that people may have misinterpreted what he said. To you it's ridiculous because you probably were raised as a Christian so you believe that there's no other way besides Christianity. Also they have no reason to believe in God but I have faith. Religion is too messy and confusing for me to deal with.

Except for the fact that this proposal comes from the UN the idea of legalizing prostitution
sounds reasonable. Prostitution is not going away. Why not take it off the streets, clean it up and tax it like any other business. How much money do we spend per year chasing down prostitutes and their customers and does it really solve anything?

The drug issue isn't as clear cut for me. Pot should be legalized in my opinion but the heavier stuff, I don't know. The user made a bad choice when he starting taking the stuff. Maybe treatment, medication and education is a better solution than prison. Now the manufacturer and seller need to suffer the full rath of the law.

Yes, BUT they must be: licensed and must have mandatory STD testing bi-weekly. Like all legalized things, licensed prostitutes can be taxed (hopefully 10% to the each act) or something like that.

We should also legalize naturally grown narcotic substances. I am still against all of this "I it made at home, and I have no f***ing idea what it does" sh*t like Meth and Ice. Cocaine is actually a natural substance, the way it is taken into the body is unnatural though.

The people who say that Prostitution can be likened to Child Porn, Rape and Murder are probably just trying to get some attention by likening something consensual to things that aren't. You can't legalize Child Porn because it is immoral, and the children don't know the repercussions of entering into such illicit acts, where as a "consenting sex worker" knows the repercussions of his/her job and knows how to take proper precautions to reduce the risks. Sure religious groups can complain to the high heavens (sorry for the wording) but "consenting sex work" has been around longer than most if not all religions that state that it is immoral.

The best way to ensure that it is a safe "job" is to have regular check up for everything, from STI's to everything that isn't even related to the job. Also they should have to pay income tax, because they are making money.

If we open the door to legalizing money for sex this will not only encourage immorality, infidelity, and adultery in our country, but set the sex trade underworld for a massive boom! The U.N. shouldn't have a say in American affairs anyways. The U.N. is such a joke.

Consenting adults should be free to engage in whatever actions they deem proper. Provided, of course, that such actions do not unduly infringe upon the rights of others.

imagine a world where it would be considered perfectly normal for your current GF to say ohh i used to be a hooker in my younger days.a bunch of confused teenage sluts who other wise wouldnt have because it was against the law would just runaway from home, unreported rapes would increase, more unwanted fetuses left in public rest rooms.this will benefit sex traffickers as well their business will increase now that they have more freedom to come out on the open and people will be less likely to believe their drugged up hooker victims

No? That's wrong from a logical viewpoint. Sex traffickers wouldn't succeed because all the regulation would put an eye in their business. A drug dealer can lace marijuana with heroin, but a pharmacist cannot lace Adderal. Protection would be required. Laws would require STD testing as well. Rape has been proven to decrease in places where prostitution was legalized. Don't be silly. It would be as lawful a business as "gentleman" clubs. Have you ever had a girlfriend tell you, "Yeah, I used to be a stripper." Probably not.

thats a horrible example you made with adderal and pharmaceuticals because we have LEGAL pharmaceuticals and thats whats getting bootlegged the worst. we even see illegal pharmaceuticals getting mixed to our [official] ones illegally and not to mention home made 1s and the ones that come from across the boarder and thats a very well regulated industry. now imagine prostitution where the jons risk themselves everyday to bang some road kill.when u see them on tv 1 cant help but notice how they are willing to risk themselves even though its against the law.you can have all your protection laws you want people are going to find a way to bootleg it license it abuse it.No a gf wont tell you shes a stripper if shes bright enough and would like you to take her seriously but instead you might have them say ohhh yea im a stripper but atleast im not a hooker.you probably think the majority of people like to play nice and follow laws=) and you are probably under the impression that nothing at all will change am i right?

I'm looking at a cost-benefit analyses of the situation. Prostitution would be safer in a legal, regulated market than the black market. The legal prostitutes in Nevada love their job. They are making major salaries to have sex. I can think of worse jobs. These women aren't slaves or abused. Each brothel has security and cameras. It's safer than the black market which is forced when it is illegal.

I'm on the fence about it. While it doesn't sound right to tell a man or woman what they can or can't do with their bodies, prostitution is still one of the top ways that HIV & AIDS get spread. If I'm not mistaken it's the #1 way. i know that whether it's legal or not, people will still do it, but fear will keep many people from seeing these prostitutes. They don't want to ruin their reputation or their careers, and the fear of getting caught is too strong, so they don't do it. Legalizing will get rid of that fear. I don't want to support a greater spread of an epidemic. I also don't want to support human trafficking (since most prostitutes aren't actually "prostitutes", they're sex slaves being pushed around by their pimps. A lot of them from foreign countries).
