They're all contrived nonsense. Take that X-factor show. At least one of the contestants, Stacy Francis was found out for exaggerating their back story; she'd sung professionally and been moderately successful at it which flew in the face of her claims.

She was discovered because a video of her singing and dancing with Tom Cruise at his birthday bash arranged by the church of scientology came to light. This sparked more investigation and the whole story came out here:

I wasn't a fan of hers, because of the drama-rama and because I wasn't crazy about her singing. However, her religious affiliation is irrelevant. That she has celeb friends and sang at a celeb's party - is also irrelevant. The religious affiliation of her friends is irrelevant. However, if she exaggerated her back story and was, in fact, singing "professionally" - that would certainly be important. I'm not sure, though, what it is that constitutes being considered a "professional". Is it that you are paid money? Do you know what the criteria is?

PS: That article was written by someone who claims to be "one of her former group members from Ex-Girlfriend". She obviously is pissed off and has an axe to grind, so I would wonder how much was true. Regardless, the issue is whether she lied about her background and if she actually would be considered a "professional'.

They are shallow, insipid, and disrespectful to those not winning. Most only accept people in the 18-30 age group, and only if they're attractive ...what does either have to do with "talent"? In one respect they remind me of the old "Star Search" program - all the male singers are interchangeable and all the female singers are interchangeable ...cookie cutter contestants.

They are all "The Gong Show" without the fun.

I've wearied of shows featuring singers, but I'm addicted to "So You Think You Can Dance?" It personifies "poetry in motion" and is an art form like no other, a beauty that is truth.
