Turtlenecks have gotten a bad rap over the years and while you can always find them in stores, they haven't been widely popular since the '90s... or even hip since the '70s. Fashion always comes back around however, and Lucky Magazine editor Marlien Rentmeester tells us that this fall and winter we will see a turtleneck resurgence. I think the high-necked sweaters can look good or bad depending on how you style them... but what do you think? Are turtlenecks chic or frumpy?

Both, I love them because they're practical in cold weather. So cozy! I don't care what someone thinks of my shirt. They can be chic if they're paired with the right accessories and style.

Have you not been to the mall lately or looked at the cover of a fashion magazine?
The 80's are back! Retro is in. They even have the leggings with the stirrups again.

I'm a 31 year old, stay at home mom. Fun little jaunts to the mall don't happen and at the grocery store, I'm trying my hardest to keep the kids away from the candy bars and from hitting each other ... fashion is the furthest thing from my mind.

But thanks for letting me know that apparently, I'm not cool and I'm too old. I'm okay with that. Turtlenecks still look like crap, even after your plea for them.

    You're cool, MrsB!
Wearing hideous 80s clothing like turtlenecks and stirrup pants is what is NOT cool. Next thing you know, we'll be seeing BIG HAIR again too... :/

Please, not the big bangs again. My hair was traumatized years ago and still hasn't recovered lol.

All it takes is someone with bad taste in fashion making a magazine article about how cool hammer pants are and then everyone has to have them. Be yourself, people!

That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. I was simply letting you know that retro is in, I'm not much of a fan of those particular styles either but a lot of people, even from your generation, are quite excited about it. Sorry if I offended you. Oh, and being a mom isn't a reason to trade in stylish attire for a moo moo and a pair of crocs. There are plenty of women who can 'work it' while still taking care of their children.

Even from my generation ... nice.

And in no way am I offended. As you so kindly let me know, opinions are allowed. As a side note, I didn't trade in stylish attire for a moomoo and a pair of crocs. I was telling a joke. Maybe even YOUR generation knows what humor and sarcasm are ... I could be wrong though because apparently, I'm an unstylish, moomoo wearing kid toting old person walking around in crocs.

Wow, you are getting really defensive for nothing. I meant even your generation because you must have still been a child in the 80's. You are only 31, or did you forget? And I never said that YOU personally wore a moomoo or crocs even though it would be fine if you did so long as you're happy, it was only an example. I understand what both humor and sarcasm are quite well, thank you.
  • MrsB Stef an... 2012/09/04 23:01:08

Okay. Let me break this down for you. I'm not getting defensive. You're annoying. That's it. I make comments to rile you up, they worked. I was hoping it would get you to go away ever since your first comment on my opinion. I was wrongly mistaken.

If you'll wait a moment, I'll go get some crayons. Maybe after I draw you a pretty picture you'll get the hint that I've been giving you the brush off since your first comment that I didn't care about and of course all of the ones that followed.

Now please, go be a troll on someone else's comment. Make sure you let them know it's okay for them to have their own opinion and that they have to get it from the mall or fashion magazines.

    go away funny

I'm riled? Judging by your replies I would say it is you who is riled (enough so to comment about me on another thread...).
You don't like turtlenecks? That's great, fine, whatever, we get it. No one told you that you have to like 80's fashion, I was simply telling you that it's back in and 80's inspired clothes are everywhere! Nothing more. Yet here you still are, continuing to rant and even going so far as to tell me that you have no time for fashion because you're a stay at home mom as if that makes any difference to me or anyone else. You're 31 going on 60, just relax. Maybe go back and review our replies to one another so you can have a better grasp on the reality here.

    Obviously the crayons didn't work.

Now, for the love of everything holy, please go find something else to do with your time and save me the effort of having to put up with your inconsequential digs and comments.

Once the cool weather hits i wear them all the time as they keep me warm. Also it depends on the kind of turtleneck as well because i hate tight material around my neck so it has to be a bit loose or i can't wear them because i feel like i am being stangled.

If I want coverage on my neck I can wear a scarf, otherwise it never feels right as my facial/neck hair grows so fast it gets REALLY itchy fast.
