Forget the last minute running around for mom and dad. Toys “R” Us is launching its first-ever free reservation service that lets parents reserve --with a 20 percent down payment, mind you -- the hottest toys of the holiday season.

“We want customers to get what they want,” Toys “R” Us CEO Jerry Storch said when announcing the new service at an event previewing the upcoming holiday shopping season. Do our kids really need the hottest toys of the season? Or do you think we're spoiling our kids a little too much?

NYDAILYNEWS.COM reports:
God forbid your kid doesn’t get his favorite toy at Christmastime!

A three year old still sleeping with the parents? Eeekkk!! We let our daughter sleep with is when she's sick or had a bad dream, but it's definitely not a regular thing!

Yeah my mom lost 2 sons so I think that's why she babies him an my "dad" always wanted a son but he can't have kids just pretty much ditched me when my mom had my brother. His dad left when she was pregnant an my dad died when I was 3 but my mom's bf has been here since I was 4 so I call him dad eventhough we haven't got along much since my brother came into the pic but before he did I was treated very good I mean I slept in my own bed an bathed myself an stuff since I was young but I won't lie I used to sneak into my parents room up until 6 yrs old if I had a bad dream sleep at the foot of their bed or on a pallet next to their bed. But not after 6.

She's not doing him any favors by letting him sleep with them. Her bf sounds like an ass. I don't think you're ever too old to sleep with your mom if you're sick or have a bad dream or something, but to do it every night is terrible

You have no clue how bad he can be lol. Idk they kicked my bf out cause they're selfish so I ended up having my baby sleep with me cause I'm lonely. She's 6 mths today <3

Having things too easy & cushy tend to make tykes (& folk) take things for granted and artificially raise expectations which lead to maladapted psychology. Being left a little wanting provides incentive and the means to appreciate what you have already & motivation to merit receiving them.

American kids are very spoiled compared to children living elsewhere. Kids need love, guidance and care- not expensive toys and gifts.

Giving a kid exactly what he/she asks for isn't necessarily a smart move all the time. In the real world adults don't get everything that wish for- and nor should children.

Folks have been complaining about the commercialization of Christmas for over a century.

"The Fashion Industry is nothing more than an induced epidemic"

Now we have Instant Gratification, Conspicuous Consumerism, Planned Obsolescence & Militant Conformism.

If a kid doesn't know what he /she wants whose business is it to tell them?
But that aside America is largely a nation of spoiled brats. If the rest of the world were to follow would it really be a better place? I question that notion.

No. I think this is a smart marketing move by Toys R Us -- this way they can ensure that the stock they purchase will be sold. The only thing worse than being left with huge overstock after a holiday season is running out too quickly. People remember where they got that special item for their child, and this sort of program will help sales in a number of ways.

Could be a "baited" slippery slope, over time the service could creep up and pressure to sign up earlier. What happens if the fad fizzles prematurely or something requiring a product recall. rather than the stores being saddled with overstock the buyers are left holding unwanted stuff. It's normal to have (some) losses in any business but this sounds like they are front-loading this on the customer. Others are using the strategy of buying next year's during the Boxing Day Sale but that can backfire likewise not to mention the intended recipient buying it either at a different store or just days prior to the next Christmas.

Reservation here requires a 25% down payment. It's a sound business decision.

Not if the "Fad Toy" flops or is recalled for safety reasons,
Giraffe's GOT your money, up to YOU to get it returned.

Yes my kids want for nothing. Sometimes I do think giving them things without a reason or any effort on their part, will hurt them in the end so I try to set 'goals' for them. If I was perfect I would say it works great but I'm not so I break down and get them the stuff anyway.

Way way waaaaaaaay too much. Kids today are never satisfied with what it is they HAVE, no matter how hi-tech or expensive it is - they always want something else.
